Spending time with locals helps to understand the culture of visited country and you can meet very interesting people which you would never met staying in a hotel.

I rarely use to listen music just for fun but have the list of motivating songs/melodies. "It's my Life" is one of them but by far not the only one. I watch movies of different genres but prefer ones which force my mind to work. The same apply to books.
