About Me

I'm not accepting hosting requests because I usually respond to public trips. It's easier to schedule.

I'm a funny yet introverted kind of guy who knows both a lot more and a lot less than what someone would expect. I like to learn about languages, culture and basically anything that's out there. This desire has been copiously fulfilled so far by traveling all over the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I guess couch surfing is the easiest way to really immerse myself into the local culture and thereby really be able to appreciate people as they are.

It's also a great way to experience unique situations. One time, when I was only a kid, I got to sleep in the cabin of an old wooden motorboat/floating wreck which was filled with cockroaches. The journey was from some island, Flores I think, to another island in the Banda sea. At the time I didn't know what kind of insects cockroaches were so I wasn't really scared of them. But now that I think back on it I think it's rather amazing that I could sleep there without any second thoughts.

Interests

I actually have many interests and hobbies that I actively pursue, but these are the ones I enjoy the most.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like to listen to almost anything depending on my mood, from classic to dub-step and trance.
I usually play improvised bleusy/jazzy music on my guitar but it might also be any kind of rock at times.
I don't like listening to hardcore however.

As for books, I like to read historical fiction but also some more contemporary stories. Usually, if it's a famous story/writer I probably like it.
My favorite writer at the moment is Haruki Murakami.

Movies, too many to name. I've got hundreds listed on my Facebook profile but that list is far from complete.
Genres I particularly like: historical, action, drama, sci-fi, thriller.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have absolutely no idea... there's a lot I have done that I consider amazing. I really feel blessed that I have had the privilege to travel as much as I have, so if I had to pick one amazing thing it has to be the very fact that I'm able to have amazing experiences at all.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would be happy to share any knowledge on anything I have. So this includes the languages I speak, and guitar playing for example. But also other stuff.. whatever floats your boat.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I don't have a lot of expectations when it comes to sleeping arrangements. As long as it's a mattress and the bedding is clean.

I'm not a good cook, but I will help you with anything you need as best as I can!
I do photography semi-professionally so I can also make portraits of you and your family.
