About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To meet some lovely people :)

ABOUT ME

****Currently not accepting guests as we are travelling for the whole of 2018! Once we find somewhere to settle down for a while we will be happy to host couchsurfers again, but at this point we have no idea where that will be. Maybe Helsinki? Maybe Amsterdam? Who knows****

I like to eat lots of veggies! I like to draw, I read a lot but not enough, I love cooking and I buy old things from antique stores and op shops for fun. I grew up on a farm, love animals and real food. Many nights were spent out in the back paddocks with friends and bonfires, sleeping on the back of a truck under the stars. I love camping, down to earth people and good conversation. I wish I lived closer to the beach, I like swimming and being surrounded by ocean. I love traveling, wish I could do more. I have spent time in Indonesia, and am always looking for an excuse to return. My life plans pretty much include gaining as much knowledge as I can about all that interests me (which is a lot…) and living in as many different places as I can. I think moving around a lot can give you the advantage of perspective, and it becomes easier to determine what really matters to you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My partner and I are travelling for a year and hope to meet some people who can help us decide where to live and what to do with our lives. We have been working 9-5 office jobs for years which have tried to destroy our souls! We sold our stuff and now live out of backpacks and we read as many books as we can. Oh, and we got married before we left so this is technically our honeymoon. We are not very romantic so have traded in the rose petals and massages for milking goats and shovelling poop in Crescent Lake Oregon (via HelpX). We would love to meet some fellow travellers and drink lots of tea and hopefully take some nice walks. We will clean our farm clothes before we visit you for sure. We are heading to Russia and Europe after the USA, so if anyone has any tips we would love that. Also we love cuddling dogs, so if you have a dog that needs cuddling- we can assist.

Interests

My 'fun time' is usually a good book and a cup of tea in winter/ beach days and bushwalking in summer. I also love spending time at home sitting by the pond with a cup of tea. I also really like sausage dogs.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Greatest Showman- I couldn't stop smiling the whole movie! I watched it twice in one day because the songs are so catchy (its a musical) and I now want to learn all the moves.
I like documentaries but good ones can be hard to find. 'Born into Brothels' I thought was amazing, 'Grizzly Man' was pretty cool too. I also like heaps of mainstream movies, 'Across the Universe' 'The Lives of Others’ ‘The Departed’ ‘Defiance' ‘Children of Men’ or just anything with Clive Owen in it… :)I listen to Sigur Ros and indie/folk music. I love seeing live music... any style. My favourite book is called A Little Life, the novel that broke my heart. My favourite author is Arundhati Roy. She wrote 'The God of Small Things' a fictional novel about Indias caste system. She also has some great non fiction works and essays.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I took a boat down mother Ghanga in Varanasi, and set a lotus candle on the water for good karma.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have decided not to eat meat in 2017 so if anyone knows any good vegetarian recipes I am currently trying to learn.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Sean and I are very relaxed house guests, and require very little attention if you have busy lives. We have excellent tea and coffee making skills. We also like games if you are up for it.

Botswana, Cambodia, Egypt, Fiji, Finland, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, New Zealand, Russian Federation, South Africa, Thailand, United States, Viet Nam, Zimbabwe
