Due to it’s legendary winters, Siberia may not be on the top of many travelers’ wish lists, but Novosibirsk lends plenty of appeal to the region. This city was built around the Trans-Siberian Railway Bridge over the Ob River, and blends traditional Russian architecture with Soviet-era industrialization. Visitors can still see wood-lace flourishes on many buildings in the older parts of town, where the culture of the original local people is still preserved.
Take a relaxing stroll through Zayeltsovskiy Park, or shatter your vision of a frozen Siberian wasteland by walking around the Central Siberian Botanical Garden. After that, soak up some history by touring some of Novosibirsk’s quirky museums like the Museum of Local Lore, the Museum of Cossacks Glory, or the Nicholas Roerich Museum. For a grand adventure out of the city, hop on the Trans-Siberian Railway to ride through breathtaking countryside and discover parts of the world you never thought you’d see.
