Leipzig is a the hippest, trendiest city in Saxony, home to the same kind of creative young nomads so commonly found in Berlin. As with Berlin, though, Leipzig is not just a great place to meet new people from all over the world and party ‘til you drop. It’s full of historical sights that tell a story of a city that’s seen a whole lot of action. A must-see for any visitor is the Monument to the Battle of Nations, a 300-foot-tall monument commemorating Napoleon’s defeat and retreat from Germany with an awesome view of Leipzig from the top. For more impressive architecture, check out the city’s New Town Hall and the incredible churches like St. Nicholas, St. Thomas, and St. Peter.

When the sun sets over Leipzig, join the throngs of fun-loving locals at one of the city’s many electronic music clubs. But beware: at some clubs like Distillery (the city’s oldest club), you must knock on the door for entry and you’ll only get in if you make a good impression on the bouncer.
