About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Working in Sydney, discovering Australia, meeting new people
ABOUT ME
I am usally very active. I love being outdoors and hanging out with other people. I love being in good company. Around people I don't feel comfortable, I can be quiet and shy at times, but once comfortable around people that make me feel good, I am outgoing, enthusiastic and energetic and sometimes maybe even funny (I heard people say).
Like I said, I can be pretty restless, and basically always want to do active things.
But, I can also be pretty serious and hard working. I also love a good conversation and can also spend quite some time talking to people. I found out that the only way to keep working as hard as I sometimes do, I need to have a lot of fun in evenings, weekends and during holidays to stay happy.
PHILOSOPHY
Be trustworthy: one of the best things is being able to trust others and be trusted by others.
A few quotes that I like
"Work hard, live hard!"
"Enjoy yourself - it's later than you think."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I don't have a house that can accomodate surfers. But I will be around for a year, so as soon as I have a place to stay I would love to host if I can. I am currently mainly interested in meeting people with similar interests that live in the area.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
None yet. But my sister is very enthusiastic about it and inspired me to get involved..
She met some great people through this website and made some good friends while surfing and hosting.
Interests
In short: Scuba diving, horse riding, travelling (preferably by motorbike or car), skiing, hiking, being outdoors, hanging out with people, going out (for a beer, dinner, or dancing), and I recently had my first surfing lesson, which I loved!
So whenever I can, I like to go out for dinner or a beer with friends. Whenever the weather was even slightly nice, I used to take my motorbike for a ride whenever I could.

Music, Movies, and Books
A few examples of music I really like listening to: Mumford & Sons, Ben Howard, Cold war kids, Dire Straits.
I love Amelie, Pulp fiction, the life of Pi, nearly all animation movies, like Shrek etc.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Definitely scuba diving. I think diving in ship wrecks and caves, or diving while surrounded by dolphins was one of those amazing moments.
Another amazing thing was making a 10 day trip with my dad and our motorbikes from The Netherlands, crossing England to spend 7 days driving in Ireland before driving back home.
Teach, Learn, Share
I don't really have a special skill I can share. I do have enthusiasm about the brain and how it works, since I'm a neuroscience PhD student.
I could teach you how to ride a motorcycle, as it appears you don't require driving lessons by a certified instructor in Australia...
I've taken a few Salsa lessons in the past and I love dancing and going out. So if you'd like to learn, I'd love to teach you.
Countries I’ve Visited
