Overview
About Me
I am an energetic barefoot sort of person. I grew up on a farm and went to boarding school in the city. I got my love for traveling - and most other attributes- from my parents. They are both extraordinary human beings in very different ways. I participate wholeheartedly in everything I do, else I'd rather not do it.
Currently, I am wearing sneakers and I am teaching English in Beijing.
My students are 3 - 6 year olds and in turn they have made me a student of consciousness, and a million children's songs.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
What a way to travel- the most intimate and honest experience of another culture must be through staying in someones home. I like to learn from others - their ideas, places to see and opinions.
The two instances that I had the opportunity to host, was very memorable and insightful. I like to share what is special to me in my home country, and to provide a home away from home for a day or two.
While I am living in Beijing, my hosting ability is limited, but I would still like to meet up with like-minded people and share experiences.
Interests
Two voices in harmony thrills me. I am attracted to folk music like cold feet to an open camp fire. I like to get people to participate in casual musicing. I love the outdoors, and I have a soft spot for rocks,... also for dirty hiking boots, books with curly edges, and contented faces - they all tell the best stories.

Music, Movies, and Books
My go to movies, currently, would be: About Time and Mammamia, and recently The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society - the book was already a delight to me and our "bookclub" of three friends, years ago.
The book Extremely Loud and Incredible Close is a jewel to me. Primarily the letters addressed "to my unborn son", such poetry and deepness of feeling, and then of course the visual communication of the lay out.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hiking the fish river canyon in Namibia
Lead Climbing for the first time (I remember it being the most exhilarating scariest thing I have ever done)
Learning to be silent. Getting to know myself.
Teach, Learn, Share
Of course, just to share a regular day in the life of a stranger is enough. A meal, a game, a walk through the streets, or park, a conversation or exchange of gestures.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can plait little bracelets from cotton twine
I can teach guitar cords, give drawing tips. (always eager to help people to express themselves)
I can help with house chores
We could share wine.
