About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Mission? What do I try to do now? I would like to not be late for my Polish class.

ABOUT ME

I am always confused by the request to tell something about myself. I am a student from Latvia, spent some time in Poland as an Erasmus student and I loved almost every minute of my time there. I like to read, and write, and listen, and watch cat videos on Youtube, and try new things, and meet new people despite the fact that I'm terrified of the first few minutes with strangers.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm not sure, if I can put my philosophy into words. I believe that the world is one fine place, if you put in some effort for it to look fine. Otherwise the best thing you (or me) will get is a bunch of *rudeword*

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am up to any kind of couchsurfing experience whether it would be just trying to tour-guide or actually hosting people in my humble home. From my time in Poland I learnt that I love being in inter-cultural society, the only problem might be my slight social awkwardness

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Once upon a time I hitch-hiked to Estonia in a truck that was carrying Chinese cabbages to Finland. It was great.
The other time I went to Venice and got ditched in the streets by our supposed-to-be host, so we spent the night sleeping in front of a church. That was great as well.

Interests

I'm interested in being interested. I love travelling, that's for sure. Also, I love people, as I already said. And... I like to learn languages, though I'm not very good at them. Also, I like to dance, and sing, and cook, which from time to time may turn into a quite a dangerous/shameful/extraordinary adventure. And I love to walk.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am seriously addicted to animation movies (Up is my newest favourite). Occasionally I feel the need for something more serious or scary (which is a completely new trend thanks to my room-friend in Latvia), or cutely-flowery-romantic. Basically it means, that I like everything, which is not a signal for a good taste.

Books - i just started reading Chesterton's 'The Man Who Was Thursday'. I especially enjoy British literature (and movies. and music. and accent. if I had British accent, I'd never shut up)of 19th century. The sisters Bronte are my favourites till now.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hitch-hiked to Estonia without passport, which was not exactly amazing, but quite interesting. Amazing things happen every day, if you are eager enough to notice them. Currently I'm listening to already mentioned Frank Sinatra, writing this, my room-mate is eating her breakfast cereal (it's 4.30 PM), it's sunny outside and I see pigeons on my balcony. I think that's quite amazing too.

Teach, Learn, Share

What can I teach? I know some very useful words in few languages (beer, thanks, where is the bathroom?), and I can almost professionally translate a polish menu to English or Latvian. Or Russian maybe. I have basic knowledge of how to ski and I can make quite delicious miniature pancakes. In addition almost every time when asked for directions I can accidentally point to exactly opposite direction, which is a very useful knowledge if you know how to use it ;)

Countries I’ve Visited

Croatia, Estonia, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Sweden

Countries I’ve Lived In
