Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Finish what I start. Be an inspiration to others and myself. I lift weights and try to lift more than last week. I am in fierce competition with myself (from last week) and having a ton of fun indulging in the narcisstic(I want to learn to spel better)
ABOUT ME
Outdoors is a good place to be.
Hike, social dance, bike, ski. Used to hanglide.
In another life I would like to have been a movie producer.
My photo album is all the songs I wrote or didn't finish. Having a hard time getting to 10% body fat or below. I know all the tricks, but I am 2 people when it comes to tasty food.
PHILOSOPHY
When I pass on I hope to leave a little more than what I took. Kinda worry about that these days.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Varies. I try to keep quiet and go along. You can throw the ball and I will catch it and take it towards the correct goal post.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
no formal couchsurfing but I do travel and stay on friend's floors. Floor works good for me because I have a really nice sleeping bag. . . really nice. Don't get me talking about it. Also, the ground is cooler. Slept on my friend's garage floor (made into office) last May. Slept on my daughter's floor on air mattress last March. Slept on floor in condo at Whistler Mountain ski resort last spring, was offered extra bed but floor in living room was perfect. Slept on several configurations of twin beds on Vashon Island, BC where an old hangliding friend lives. Slept on floor in living room of my condo last 2 summers. I have a cheapo flannel bag for that, air conditioner was set at 60 degrees. Beds work too, no worries. Daughter's dog likes to come in and climb onto my bag with me. I like that.
Interests
I don't social dance as much as before but I have a popular website, www.lazydancer.com that I maintain and try to figure out how to make it work better. I spend time traveling to cities to photo the inside and outside of dance halls. I use these on my website.
I spend a lot of time at the computer or reading.
I like the latest in movies. I like old movies.
I love to create IT solutions to business problems. I am really good at that. I used to lead outings for our climbing/hiking club. I still might but I have a left knee that is acting up. I plan to start "The Crummy Knee Club" where people come and talk about their knees. Funny, I can still hike 9 miles once and a while. Biking or skiing doesn't bother it. go figure. I frown on sit down sports like fishing or kayaking or sailing. Seems like a good excuse to eat too much junk out of boredom.

Music, Movies, and Books
I enjoy almost any movie. I probably will forget it once I see it. I avoid seeing a movie twice. Only one I ever did on purpose was the recent "Lincoln".
I like any songs I haven't heard before. I like music that is made by someone I know. I spent a ton of time on my style of music called "Boom Chuck". I was a one-man band; my goal was to be the Charlie Chaplin of music videos. Don't even have a guitar now. Now I just mess with the iPhone or some other portable taping device and Sony Vega editing software. If I won the lottery I would start a video studio for non-profits.
I like all the epic fantasy books. Space fantasy. Sometime any book works, sometimes I never finish it. Just recently found a bunch of good French movies on Netflix. With IMDB to find more, I should have my hands full for a while. Have to give these movies complete attention because one must read the sub titles in English.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
After graduating from college I travelled by train to Southern Mexico and backpacked across the Sierras from San Cristobal De Las Casas to Palenque. While getting ready to set off we met some americans in San Cristobal that were heading into the jungle to set up the "Institution For Create Studies" and they invited us along. Basically they were building a landing strip for Columbian pot smugglers to land and refuel their airplanes. haha
Anyway, we passed on that and headed off into the mountains which slowly decended into the jungle. We came upon some caves and the middle one had a river coming out of it. That afternoon some of the local village teenagers took us up the cave and there were all these pieces of Mayan pottery and remnants of what looked like people had lived there a loooong time ago.
We were told only one other white person had been up there, they were from the government researching Mayan stuff. Well, back at the village some of the elders found some of Mayan pottery in our pockets and we had a slightly uncomfortable situation. We survived but I accidently had a piece or two left and at the end of trip in Palenque the local college professor verified my pottery as being ancient Mayan. More on this later, haha.
I guess I can only tell about one thing. I will leave out the kid I saved from the giant surf in Puerto Escondido that trip and the Rastafarians I met in Jamaica before anyone american knew who they were. . . .
Teach, Learn, Share
I can show you the 2 dance steps that cover 90% of all dances. Great for ocean cruises. Only takes a few minutes to learn them.
I can show you to Oregon Coast on a car trip. That coast is something. Mountains come down to the sea.
I would also take you out the Gorge and show you the waterfalls and great hikes there. I can show you the way I do Portland "downtown" on a bike.
I can teach you how easy it is to do a minimum of exercise with a maximum of results (and back it with science).
I would love to learn more about healthy cooking and eating. It seems like someone always has an idea that I hadn't thought of.
