About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Heading down to Sth Cal into Mexico (2013)

Driving trucks mainly through the Nevada desert, carrying wine from Sonoma County. Much work looking forward to changes in 2018 and to meet new people again on this site, I may relocate from Sonoma County into the Gold Country of the Sierra Foothills later this year where I have many friends.
I am unable to host right now as I am staying in the "bunkhouse" of the trucking company that I work for, anyway, my weeks are in the truck so I have no time to socialize. Always willing to meet up with any travellers should they need help, ride here ride there or just a conversation. (7.16.17)

ABOUT ME

I am an independent musician, established well in Nth Cal and I tour from time to time. I'm originally from Australia and have been living in Nth Cal for 20yrs. I play a vintage style of American /roots Music, fingerstyle guitar. When I hit a town, I have to network and do the many things independents artists need to do in order to make it a successful visit. I like to get to know the towns through the people, roots music from all countries is all about this.

PHILOSOPHY

Treat people the same way you expect them to treat you, it's not hard and requires little thought.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

This is my first time on this website 5.18.13
I have been hosted twice, once in St John Virgin Islands,by some very nice people when I was touring with my brother.
Another time in San Luis Obisbo by a nice man who turned out to be friends with some of my own friends from different decades, I am trying to find references as I think my brother put them on his profile.
My brother and I also hosted a lady at my property of 10 yrs in Sonoma County in 2013. I stopped touring in 2015 and have been driving trucks cross country, but will look forward to returning to meet new people on this site 2018.

Music, Movies, and Books

I tend to be in to vintage things, the music I write is vintage mostly and literature etc I seem to enjoy, the modern world relies mostly on marketing symbolic, subculture type icons rather than the art substance I feel, there is still beauty out there, but it is kept away as it takes time to savor, the modern world is inpatient with these things.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Caught a wave with two Dolphins either side of my board riding for quite some time on a reef break.

Teach, Learn, Share

Exchange is an interesting thing, musicians get to know this one quick as we get by on very little, I've had some great people pass valuable knowledge on to me, some verbal, some skillful. It's pretty much the fiber of humanity and one that will keep you interested and positive about the human race. It can be no more powerful than when it is done with a stranger.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I think traveling is the greatest education of all I was lucky to have seen half the world but the time I was 14. started school in different countries although they were still "English" speaking countries, learned to adapt and be comfortable quickly and happy, make friends then say farewell and good luck, then move to the next town. Every country has a folklore they live by ,a behavior, and people who travel get to discover these traits, redefine their own nature by taking the best from all these folklore traits, this is what travel can do, you can expand your own humanity on a greater scale simply by breaking bread in a strangers home in a strange land, stranger soon becomes a friend or at worse an acquaintance, the land familiar and as the world does become one place we find ourselves more as world citizens than as citizens of our own birth country. I would like to continue to share this sentiment with other hosts.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Fiji, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Switzerland, Wales
