PHILOSOPHY

Life is impermanent, only the present is what we possess.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To be honest, I signed up to this website in 2013 but never updated my profile or tried to contact hosts until now 2016.

I was scared by the idea of couching at strangers until my last performance trip in Europe, 2015. Before taking off to Europe, I did an experiment hosting people on Airbnb for about six months, and that's where I've learned all the skill you need before your guests arrive. After the show, I wanted to visit Utrecht, NL but due to limited budget, and my fear to couchsufing, I booked a place on Airbnb, a couch in the living room.

The lady of the family threw me a welcome dinner and I had a wonderful week staying with the whole family, enjoying the chats, cooking them dinners for the next couple days, and bike rides to their garden outside the neighborhood. Same happened after Utrecht I went to Berlin, tho I rented a whole flat on Airbnb but I still kept friendly relations with the family of the landlady.

Six months later being back home in Taiwan, I happened to read a book about traveling without baggage, written by American author Clara Bensen. From my past experience and the book I'm reading, I started to think about the possibility of traveling light and maybe it is also time for me to take some risk of adventures.

Now I'm here, thinking of another way to travel and meet people and hope with fingers crossed I can see the world with a more diverse point of view.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Jumping on the table in a music festival in China, helping calm audience to shake their mood.

Second crazy thing I've done:
Booked my earliest flight to HongKong in support of Umbrella Revolution to back em up after TearGas attack with no baggage for the whole week! Staying in a church! YES! Now I remember! It was my first experience No Baggage "trip".

You don't want to know the No 1 crazy thing I done.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love learning a new dish, and combine the cultural differences. I mean, there must be a lot in common within all the differences. And of course, sharing food is always the best way to meet and know people. And yes, I love speaking and learning and teaching a new language;) And of course, sing my fav songs in Mandarin.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Maybe it's a beer, maybe it's a table of all styles of dishes (me a verified cook by Italian), maybe it's some stories. I don't know, I mean, sharing is just very diverse, it's hard to narrow down to just "what". Don't you think?
