ABOUT ME

I didn't realize that there was a term for my favorite way to travel! My favorite trips have been couchsurfing, though usually through art exchanges.
I may not be wacky or terribly eccentric, but I am authentic andhave a sense of humor. I am independent, career wise; I used to have nightmares about getting a slave job. I can't imagine working for someone. (Maybe a control issue?)I've been a self employed ceramic artist and potter for almost 20 years.
I love to play music with some friends, but I have no training at all. I play a gut-bucket bass, harmonica, and kahone (drum/box).
I love nature. I am about done with big cities, and my traveling will be as close to the land and people as I can get. Couchsurfing is absolutely ideal for me!
Arriving in my 50's, I've had to slow down a bit for various reasons, yet my life seems fuller than ever.
I've been on a journey of self discovery and spiritual enrichment for 10 years. I have a very spiritual side that is finding expression in writing the questions that can uncover people's innate wisdom and heart connections.

PHILOSOPHY

We're all the same, just different wrappings made up of emotional, cultural, physical, and mental constructs. But underneath it all, we have the same source. Voltaire said, "Judge a man not by the answers he gives, but by the questions he asks."

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I went to Hawaii in Feb. '09, and couchsurfed the entire time. James has invited me back now that he has bought houses on the big island. I am happy to host someone if they like a little respite in the country, near the city (Cincinnati).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

During my art exchanges, couchsurfing was the norm. I really don't care where I sleep, as long as it is in a home of that community. I want to make a human connection, which isn't likely in a hotel.

Interests

Living out here in the country, creating and developing book programs that bring communities together, spiritual enrichment, the outdoors, kayaking, pottery, playing music, skiing, sailing, . . .

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Whitewater rafting on the Upper Gaulley in West Virginia when the dam draw-down was increased dramatically while we were en route to the launch site, and the river level exceeded the outfitters' maximum levels. The ride of my life!
