About Me

CURRENT MISSION

livin and learnin

ABOUT ME

I am open-minded with a love for life. I'm not so good at describing myself on these sorts of things, but I suppose I am an easy-going student with a fondness for a good beer with a book. oh and I absolutely lovelovelove a good huge bowl of ceebu jen hahaha. Meet me in person and you can find out for yourself!

PHILOSOPHY

keeping an open heart and mind
and i think Ralph Waldo Emerson describes livin' life pretty eloquently when he wrote,
"To laugh often and love much; to win the respect of intellingent persons and the affection of children; to earn the approbation of honest citizens and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to give of one's self; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived - this is to have succeeded."

Music, Movies, and Books

music: indie, folk, bluegrass, jazz, classical music (preferably romantic era), and just about anything else except country, metal, and maybe a few others, but i also enjoy trying genres i might not be used to.

movies: toooo toooo many to list. i moved a ton when i was younger so i've seen a bunch. my favorites are the old ones. i like a little jimmy stewart, greta garbo, and humphrey bogart in my life :p and i'm also a star wars geek

books: also a hard one. well, the last book i read and really liked (would definitely recommend) is "The Geography of Nowhere"

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

volunteering in ghana was pretty amazing. I want to go back so badly!
Backpacking around Eastern Europe was incredible.
i've studied in Leeds, Britain and Dakar, Senegal, both are beautiful countries with incredible people.

Teach, Learn, Share

Hmmm, I suppose other than what I've learned in school, I've had a great deal of life experiences. More than some, less than others. I can't cook very well, but I enjoy trying! I recently learned to knit. I like that :) I know a bit about classical music (lived with a musician for 18 years). Being a lover of ballet, I know a great deal about that! Having lived in 5 different states in the U.S. I suppose I have a good knowledge of the U.S. in general, rather than just one particular area. I like sharing stories :)
I also really really need to better my french.
