I am studying a masters Conservation Biology at the moment. I am also a guitarist in a psychadelic doom band. And I am a proud parent. I'm kind of a nerd.
Not been on couchsurfers for years, but now think it could be good again.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I sometimes do wildife surveys and field courses away from where I live, and I am poor, so having a couch to sleep on near to survey areas etc. would be pretty handy.
I am up for hosting people at mine sometimes too, but I am very very busy so would not be able to show anyone around. If you just want somewhere to sleep for the night in South Manchester (I'm on airport tram line so could be handy if you are catching a flight from Manchester Airport) and can look after yourself, then feel free to get in touch.

Interests

I like going hiking in the countryside, looking at wildlife, gardening (at the moment mainly making my garden nice for bees and butterflies but on a waiting list for an allotment to grow my own veg). I'm in a band which play miserable angry heavy blusey riff based rock/metal, soon we will be awesome but need to practice a bit more. I like reading fantasy and sci fi novels and recently got into comic books. Like TV and film pretty much the same (fantasy,sci fi, comic book adaptations), also like good comedy. Like playing board games suitable for grown ups.

Music, Movies, and Books

said most of this in previous section but examples:

Music: Black sabbath, Pj harvey, Aphex, Nina simone, current doom/stoner/psych bands, loads loads more, i like loads of music from all genres.

Movies: hard to say what my favourites are, as a teenager I knew the matrix and fight club word for word but I dont tend to re-watch films many times any more. I like the recent comic book adaptations (especially the x men ones with James Mcavoy cos he's fit).

Books: at the moment I'm reading a Dance with Dragons by GRRM, The Invisibles by Grant Morrisson, Ecology of Freedom by Murray Bookchin, and The dispossessed by Ursula Le Guin. My favourite book of all time is Lord of The Rings.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I somehow managed to get a physics degree (2.1) in a period of my life when I was partying all the time.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach Maths, science and playing the guitar. I'm interested in learning about most things. This depends if I have any free time though!

What I Can Share with Hosts

you are welcome to have toast or cereal in the morning and a cup of tea/coffee. I have wifi too. If you are lucky there may be a single bed to sleep on, otherwise its a sofa.
