To learn as much as I can about the world around me and the people who occupy it.

ABOUT ME

I am a college student at the University of Delaware where I major in English, and I plan to spend an extensive amount of time traveling. I was raised in New York, and now live in Delaware while school is in session. I am a pretty down to earth guy with an easy going personality and an enjoyment of good conversation. I am very interested in meeting people from different backgrounds then myself as I am often awed by the immense variety of ways in which people around the world are living their lives and I would really like to try and figure out what some of that is all about.

Interests

I play bass (both electric and upright, though I dont get as much time with the upright as id like) and have performed with a variety of groups from classical orchestras, to latin jazz groups, to heavy funk-rock bands and am always looking for new genres and styles to explore. I also enjoy singing (spent a few years singing in a Ska band - basically rock music with a horn section to give it a crude, inaccurate definition if you dont know what Ska is) and am hoping to hone my skills with the guitar before too long. I compose music whenever I get the time, and I am hoping to eventually form a band to play my music.
I also recently began playing rugby and it is fast becoming my favorite sport. I am a flanker, but i am exploring the rest of the forward positions so that I might be of more use to the team. I have trained in a few different martial arts, including tae kwan do, ju-jitsu, maui thai, boxing, submission grappling, and a little bit of Krav Maga. I used to wrestle for my high school and was a goal keeper for the soccer team too.
I also spend a good deal of time reading and writing. I am currently working on a play inspired by my borderline obsession with william shakespeare and have written a great deal of poetry, lyrics, and the occasional short story.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I am an avid Red Hot Chili peppers fan. They are unquestionably my favorite band. I listen to really almost anything, from rock, reggae, jazz, funk, latin, rap, folk, classical, a cappella, and plenty more that don't come to mind right now. Off the top of my head some of my favorite bands would be: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Led Zeppelin, Jason Mraz, Bob Marley, Flogging Molly, Dave Matthews Band, Jethro Tull, Iron and Wine, Tupac, Herbie Hancock, The Allman Brothers Band, The Beatles, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, Dispatch, Snoop Dogg, Incubus, The Greatful Dead, Dr. Dre, Nightwish, Mike Pinto, Simon and Garfunkel, Reel Big Fish, The Postal Service, Death Cab For Cutie, Sufjan Stevens, Streetlight Manifesto, Miles Davis, Traffic, Stevie Wonder, Weather Report, Jaco Pastores, Victor Wooten, The Who, Wu-Tang Clan and plenty others.
