About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To travel the world and learn how to be a doctor and then be forever happy!
ABOUT ME
I am a 21 year old girl studying medicine in London. I have just finished my 3rd year of med school which has been the best but also the longest. I have enjoyed it because I have been in hospitals for the first time and talking to patients and seeing what these studies mean. I have also been learning sign language which has been really really fun.
This time a year ago I caught the travel bug really bad whilst on a trip to Senegal in Western Africa. I decided to go there to volunteer in a red cross medical centre and it was incredible. I stayed with a host family in northern city of St. Louis. While they were kind, staying with them wasn’t the highlight. I went with an organisation called ProjectsAbroad, so I was put in contact with loads of other really cool travelling people from all over the world. One of the people I met has since become my boyfriend, who has really encouraged the traveller within me! He lives in Dublin, he’s at uni there, so I have spent quite a lot of the last year in Ireland and have managed to see a lot of Dublin and some county Galway which is great. After Senegal I went to Hawaii with my family – my mum, dad, little sister and even litter brother, - which was amazing. Island hopping but I had to study for exams as well which wasn’t the best.
When I’m in London I live with 2 friends in a flat in London Bridge area and LOVE eating Damascun falafel on a Saturday morning in sunshine with Alexo from Borough Market...YUM! But I also have a great time seeing my family in Milton Keynes every now and then.
PHILOSOPHY
People are inherently good. Smile and be friendly and they will reciprocate.
Enjoy life and work hard, but never forget who you love and make sure you care for them. Caring for another person is the best gift you can give.
Family is important, so make sure you look after them.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I want to use this summer (2009) travelling in Turkey as a test run for CouchSurfing. I think it is a beautiful idea but I am a little worried at the same time. I really hope it all works out and I meet great people and then would love to invite people to stay with me in London. I know how expensive hotels are and how I can’t afford them. I love staying in hostels but then its still sometimes a little tough to meet people. If it goes well I want to get stuck in and go to London CS parties and meet people from everywhere…Fingers and toes are crossed!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
None as yet but can't wait to get stuck in!
