About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live well and let live well.

ABOUT ME

I've just finished my studies and moved into a new flat with my girlfriend, who is also a teacher. We're kind of trying to deal with this frightening situation of being working, money-earning adults with responsibility and all that rubbish, but luckily, we still love doing things the childish way. Anyway, teaching is a bloody tough job, especially for beginners, so we have very time for leisure activites right now, We both love watching films, I even review some every month, we love being outsidem walking or hiking, or swimming in the river just a minute away from our flat. Oh yes, and we love cooking!

PHILOSOPHY

I guess my philosophy is that I see myself as one part of the world we live in, and that we humans are not necessarily superior parts than, well, animals plants and all that. So I am trying to minimize the harm I do to the other parts. Practically speaking, I don't drive a car, I recycle meticulously, I try not to waste energy and water, I eat organic food whenever possible and grow stuff myself. Not that this makes me a hero, but it's a start.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As I just mentioned, we have more time for hosting that for travelling ourselves at the moment. However, we will try our best not just to offer a bed, but will also show you around and cook traditional Swiss food or something else, if you are interested.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't couchsurfed myself so far, but I have a lot of friends who have had a great time couchsurfing in Britain and Spain. I'll definitely go couchsurfing some day, but as I work pretty hard at the moment, holidays are rare.

Interests

Again? Okay: films (not just mainstream, please!), hiking, swimming, reading (favourite: T.C. Boyle), writing (stories, reviews), environmentalism, cooking, discussing

Music, Movies, and Books

I usually prefer independent films to Hollwood productions, but am open for all. One of my favourite film is "Fucking Amal", by Swedish director Lukas Moodysson, and "Angels in America" by Mike Nichols.
As a teacher of English and German I am quite into books, though more into English ones than German ones. My favourite writer is T.C. Boyle, my favourite book of his is "Drop City".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've killed a bunch of elefants with my bare hands. Does that count?

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, I already teach English and German at my school, so I prefer teaching visitors how to cook Swiss omlettes, Rösti, real Muesli (not the shit they sell you as Swiss muesli) and the worlds best pumpkin soup.
