ABOUT ME

We (incl spouse Don) moved from suburban Chicago in retirement to Mexico and love the sun, the hiking, the new friends, cooking, woodworking, reading. Mountain life in the central Mexican highlands is the best. We are retired nurse (me) and lawyer (Don) and we found new lives here. Must travel to US to visit a lifetime of friends and family and looking for new ones on our journeys. We are a quiet couple who love to sit in the evenings with good music and a good book or good company. We love to play games with friends.

PHILOSOPHY

We enjoy the peace of our community without the world's problems being hammered into us each moment on the TV and radio and newspapers. We help in our community in various ways. Each person is valued. We want to hear others and are open to all. Singles, couples of all makeup.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We are new to this idea and have done only a little surfing. We hope to share our Mexican home with travelers coming to Central Mexico. I have had only a couple surfing experiences but they were fantastic. We hope to provide the same fatastic experience.
We have begun hosting and have enjoyed the experience.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have recently had my first 2 experiences with CS during my backpacking in Norway. It was a super experience and I have 2 new friends. Now I want to do the same in my home and have invited our first couchsurfers for a September 2015 viisit.

Interessi

Reading Middle Earth, Shakespeare, good mysteries and novels. Home Theater. Hiking. Classical music. Keeping in touch with friends and family via email and Skype. Grandchildren. Visiting with friends and sharing a meal in our home.

Musica, film e libri

Don loves Alison Weir books and JR Tolkein related stuff. - great. I read anything with a good story or autobiographical. Recent loves: All the Light You Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. And read the WOOL series by Hugh Howey in 2015. Reading lots of Scandinavian mystery writers - superb!

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto

We moved from a secure suburban life of nearly 30 years to an unknown community with no friends in a new country. For us it was very courageous and we have not regretted it for a moment.
Since writing that statement, I have walked across Spain (2012) and have (July 2015) walked for a month in Norway. Planning ahead to walk in France summer of 2017 with 3 daughters. In November of 2015 we traveled with 2 granddaughters (ages 7 and 8) to safaris in South Africa for 3 weeks. What a beautiful country. We are enjoying exploring many states in our current homeland of Mexico.
