About Me

I live in a small town in Central Mexico. If you want to get a feel for what Mexico is like, this would be a great place to spend a couple of days. Very peaceful town, a few things to do, there is a nice swimming hole and scenic views for walking. No one speaks English so it would be a great place to practice your Spanish. I live with my husband and six dogs (five Dachshunds and a Beagle), they are friendly, but you need to at least be able to tolerate dogs. We have a spare bedroom and you´d have computer access and use of our patio to sit outside and have a cup of coffee is you want to.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I worked in a Youth Hostel in Mexico City and loved meeting people from all over, so it would be nice to have some visitors.

Interests

I like to read. sew and do crafts, work in my garden. I am more or less a homebody. Politically progressive, and like to talk about politics. Republicans would probably not be a good fit, haha, unless we agree to (totally) disagree beforehand. I love to travel and have visited over 30 US states, 20 Mexican States, and several other countries.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love Science Fiction, right now I am in a Post-Apocolyptic phase, loved Lord of the Rings, Avatar, all the Star Trek series. I like to read lots of things, both fiction and non fiction, and I enjoy reading cookbooks.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Got to shake hands with Fidel Castro at a baseball game in Cuba.

Lived through TWO coup attempts and one that was successful in a country in Central America.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a teacher by profession and also a pastry chef, so if you are interested in languages (Spanish or Portuguese) or learning to make some amazing Mexican desserts, I would love to teach you. I love to cook and can make regional favorites from all over Mexico.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I speak fluent Spanish, Portuguese and English, as well as some French and Italian. I am also a Pastry Chef so I can prepare wonderful desserts or offer the chance to practice a language. I am easy going and low maintainence. I am considerate and greateful for the chance to have a place to stay.
