About Me

Born and raised on Oahu. In addition to Hawai'i, I've lived in Los Angeles, Atlanta, and London. Traveled a lot while I studied abroad in London, but I've caught the travel bug again! I'd rather spend money on experiences than material things :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My friend traveled to all the countries of the EU--and couch surfed the entire time! I've always been envious that her experiences were so authentic since she stayed with people who knew the area and didn't just follow a travel guide. I am also a firm believer that despite different customs and beliefs, people from across cultures can find common ground and learn from each other. I think this is a great platform that facilitates that connection.

Interests

I'm pretty laid back. I enjoy being outdoors, hiking, and exploring off-the-beaten-road attractions. I enjoy seeing where the moment takes me. I'm not a big thrill-seeker, but I like spontaneous moments while traveling. I don't wanna travel with a minute-to-minute agenda and miss out on the vibes of what makes a place truly special.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC:
All over the place depending on mood. I've gone through disco, 80s, classic rock, EDM, and golden oldies phases. Currently loving Nu Disco and power rock ballads.

TV:
Orange is the New Black, Mad Men, Parks and Rec, Project Runway, The Office

BOOKS:
Mostly into non-fiction right now--I like books with scientific undertones.
Moonwalking with Einstein
Poisonwood Bible

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In high school I volunteered as a camp counselor and I was given the opportunity to go on a night hike across the Kilauea caldera on the Big Island of Hawai'i. I got to sit under 180 degrees of light-pollution free stars, with the fresh lava spilling into the ocean in the visible distance, all while a storyteller told Hawaiian legends. It is arguably the most amazing thing I've experienced. You get the feeling that you are connected to such natural processes: seeing new land forming, feeling enveloped by the universe while listening to stories of those who came before you --it is a very special place.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Malta, Mexico, Morocco, Scotland, Spain, United Kingdom
