My name's Karolína, you can call me just Carol. I am a university student who comes from the Czech Republic. Apart from studying, I have a part-time job as an English teacher, interpreter and translator. My friends would say I am an easy-going and active person who tends to be rather meticulous when it comes to accomplishing certain tasks. I love trying new things and I am always excited about other people's opinions. I have just started a blog along with my husband: https://mydvanavylete.wordpress.com

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
I see it as a good way to meet the locals and find out what life is really like in that country. I like meeting new people and sharing experience, which could even change my (or their) life. In my opinion, Couchsurfing is really great for students who would normally struggle when it comes to all the expenses during their trip. This makes the journey more affordable as well as more "authentic" in means of exploring new cultures.
Music, Movies, and Books
I love film music - great composers such as Hans Zimmer, John Williams or Ennio Morricone. My favourite author is Roald Dahl, I've also fallen in love with "1984". As for films, I prefer thrillers and psychological dramas, "Mary and Max" came first to my mind.
One Amazing Thing I've Done
I married someone I love.
Teach, Learn, Share
I believe that you meet certain people for a reason. That means I am always eager to listen to them and maybe even learn from their stories. This goes vice versa, of course. Also, I would say that I've learnt lots of interesting facts as a teacher, who believes in sharing knowledge with others.
What I Can Share With Hosts
I can offer a good chat about whatever comes to our minds. I am interested in all sorts of things and I would be happy to tell (and hear from) you more about them or even teach you something new. I could definitely share experience and maybe some stories. Apart from that, I am ready to tell you more about my country in case you were considering spending your next holiday here.
My Interests
I am a really active person, always with lots of things on schedule. I consider myself a sportswoman as I did athletics for about nine years. My favourite discipline was pole vault. Although I don't take part in competitions anymore, I still spend a lot of time playing other kinds of sports. In summer I go jogging, swimming or rock climbing. As for winter sports, I enjoy cross country skiing and snowboarding. Languages have always been my passion as well. I speak English fluently, I also study German and Russian. I used to take Greek lessons so whenever I go to Greece, I try to speak the local language. I believe that if you understand someone's mother tongue, it will take less time to get a glimpse of their culture. Doing so many things can be tiring so I sometimes prefer to stay at home, where I can watch a good film or read.
