Overview
About Me
Hi! My name is Morgan, and I am a student at Hollins University. I am a philosophy major as well as a social justice and creative writing double minor. I am originally from Casper, Wyoming, where I learned to revere the wind and snow tires. I am new to the Roanoke area, since I moved here for college, and am still discovering the intricacies of my new town.
For me, truly immersive experiences arise from open conversations, awkward moments, and common purposes. I am a fairly laid-back person whose favorite activities include most anything which requires critical thinking. I also cannot taste or smell, which has made for some interesting culinary experiences. Also, I am vegan.
I have a double-as-a-single dorm room, and one twin bed available for surfers.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like music, movies, and books which suit my mood and purpose.
Music-- tends to be indie pop, big band and orchestra, and '70s-era protest songs. My current favorite song is Hozier's "Take Me to Church."
Movies--most anything with a complicated plot and satisfying structure. My favorite movies are Argo, A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night, The Little Vampire, and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
Books--the same as my interest in movies. I like space operas, anything by George R.R. Martin and Mark Lawrence, Mark Gibbins' poetry. My favorite books are "In the Land of Punctuation," "Vagabonding," and "Prince of Fools."
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have hiked to the top of Independence Rock, and camped in the winter at Devil's Tower.
Teach, Learn, Share
If you speak another language and want to share it, I would love to learn from you! I can teach you about how to make a hearty lentil stew while not melting from stove use in the Virginia summer. I would be happy to share food with you, but please let me know if you have any dietary restrictions!
Do you want to experience a small campus's accommodations? Hollins has incredible scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains, a barn, a swimming pool, and many historic buildings (Greek Revival). It is purported to be the third most haunted college campus in the United States, and even has an on-site cemetery.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can provide vegan food for you, including dessert.
I do not have a car, but if you're interested, I will definitely help show you around the Roanoke Valley! Some areas close by are Carvin's Cove in the Blue Ridge Mountains (a five kilometer hike from my university), the Roanoke Star, Grandin Village, and the Roaring Run Iron Furnace.
