About Me

I'm the mother of an adult son. He is both American & German by citizenship. Presently, I live in the city where I lived when I was born, after 6 years in Germany and living right around where my son's father grew up. My son was raised 10 years in the USA in Indianapolis, Indiana and has now lived in Germany for 9 years. I was right with him until after he turned 21 years, not months old.

In my own self, I credit my parents with having encouraged me to be a broad-minded and loyal American. Thanks to that, I have had a sense of being somewhat open and friendly towards people of other nationalities during my lifetime. At this point, I have lived 'as a foreigner' twice for a total of 11 years and have also visited our lovely Northern neighbor Canada.

I have had the highest income in the past by being a wife/live in girlfriend. I have earned the most pay in the following fields: professional writing - ghostwriting a novel and writing book summaries, working as a clerk, secretary, working as a gardener's assistant to a Master Gardener tending the private gardens of wealthy people.

I am a spiritual lay person but not particularly conservative and I have some behaviors that make me feel uneasy about being 'viewed as a spiritual person' but all my exboyfriends and exhusbands can assure you that they noticed that I am a spiritual person. I know that's weird, but it's true.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Right now, I'm back in my original 'home town'. I have used Couchsurfing twice. Once as a guest and the other time as a hostess.

Socializing and trying trust over distrust amongst people and facilitating 'abundance even if there isn't much money'.

Interests

Spiritual / philosophy
Art & Museums
Some sports: a lot depends on money. For example: horse back riding, caneoing kayaking, and lots of other stuff is fine with me but does not work when broke. I have had some years when I did some martial arts and I was really into swimming for about 10 years as a child. Tennis ok etc.. 'regular light to moderate simple athletics'.
Music - I love music. I am largely a rocker but also love classical, orchestral, opera and a little bit of jazz and world music.
People - I do often easily like people but if it is too much about stuff I get bored with I lose interest.
Somewhat politics
"Saving the world" - from practical works to how public policies help to what we can do in groups etc..

Music, Movies, and Books

Right now I don't want to say. Rush U2 Godsmack Disturbed, even Marilyn Manson but also Prince of course, Yo Yo Ma, Anoushka Shankar (Ravi Shankar's daughter on the Citar there...decades after the Beatles used one once) , Gilbert & Sullivan, Beethoven, and luckily we also had The Go Go Girls and The B52s 'Love Shack' etc..

I loved the Lord of the Rings. I read the books in the 1970-80s time period and like the 21st century films. I loved science fiction and fantasy, so unless there were space ships I probably did expect elves with swords.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I won't go into it...probably just motherhood and managing to get 2 novels published so far.

Teach, Learn, Share

English, creative writing, some kinds of lay ministry, ....

What I Can Share with Hosts

Please see above. However, if need be I can play video games or wash the dishes and walk the dog or read aloud to your children.

Some international experience. English and German as functional languages. I can still understand a fair amount of Spanish but haven't used it much in years.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Netherlands

Countries I’ve Lived In

Germany, United Kingdom, United States
