About Me

I am from Donkin, Nova Scotia on beautiful Cape Breton Island, but now my wife and I are setting roots in Flon Flon, Mb with a baby on the way in Aug. 2016. We studied International Development at Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS and both become secondary school teachers. We studied at Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto. I am presently enrolled at Brandon University for my mater's degree in Education Administration and my thesis will look at how to transform the Canadian education system through the use of digital tools. I am a teacher/carpenter/photographer who has lived, worked and travelled around the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have stayed in a lot of hotels and hostels in my years traveling around the world and I have come to the honest conclusion that there is no better place to stay then in someone else's house who shares the same interests and philosophy of life. Being from the east coast of Canada, I love to tell stories while listening and learning about other people's life experiences.

Interests

I hand dug a 25'x25' veggie garden and built a she-shed for my wife (cool greenhouse). I just started practicing yoga. I studied and worked as a carpenter as my first career. I enjoy reading about how to transform the Canadian education system and started exploring infographics. I am a life-long learner who loves using digital tools to work smarter and not harder. I love to snowboard on the west coast in two feet of powder and surf on the east coast on four-foot waves. I have traveled around the world and enjoy learning about environmentalism and sustainable living.
