I'm Maria del Mar and I'm 21 years old. I live in a peaceful village called Medinyà, in Catalonia, since I was born. I like going to the movies and play basketball. I am studying the Biology Degree in Universitat de Girona. So, I go to classes in Girona every day by car. When I do so, it just take 15 minuts to arrive to the city, as it's 15 km far from Medinyà. But now I'm having an Erasmus in Pisa, Italy, so I'm learing Italian and it's a beautiful language to me. Medinyà only has about 850 habitants, so it's not big. I like this place because it's well connected (the main road which goes to Barcelona is adjacent to Medinyà). You can be easily and quickly in Girona (15 min), on the beach (40 min), in Banyoles (15 min), in Figueres (35 min) in Barcelona (1 hour), in France (50 min) and in the mountains (1,5 hours). Also, Medinyà has a bus stop that brings you to Girona in 20 minutes. Moreover, in this little village you are located in the countryside as well, even if you are so close to the city. We usually walk through the paths and forests that surround Medinyà. Next to my place, there is the Ter river, which I like to enjoy by walking on the side or by sailing with a kayak. It's also marvellous for me being so close to Empordà, a beautiful county known for wetlands, nice beaches (Costa Brava), DO wine and a valuable patrimony of land and marine biodiversity.
