About Me

I'm Nick, and I come from a small village in The Netherlands. I have been a scout pretty much the entirety of my life and because I have been a scout my whole life i'm not a stranger to camping, being in the nature or a challenge. Ever since my brother went to Australia and came back with these amazing stories, I wanted to travel the world. I just graduated from the university of applied sciences in Rotterdam. So now i finally have time to make my dream come true.

I have spent the 2017/2018 traveling on and off to different country's. I have been to ireland, Canada, Italy, central America and a small northern Europe trip.

My normal week consist of going bouldering twice a week (I have been bouldering for about 2 years now, and i'm absolutely addicted. I'll probably take my climbing shoes with me when i'm going to travel).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to go on a adventure. I want to meet new people and go on epic adventures with them. I want to know how your culture is. If you a have a certain dish that most outsiders frown upon, please give me this dish. I am not traveling to stay in my comfort zone, to eat the same things i'm used to eating, to not trying new things.

Interests

I freaking love bouldering, walking around with my backpack and having the ability to sleep anywhere.
And since Canada I fell in love with hitchhiking, it was the best experience I have ever had.

Music, Movies, and Books

The best description of my music taste would probably be:

Rock
Punk Rock
Alternative Rock
Celtic punk rock

As you can see, mostly rock.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was traveling in Ireland with a friend of mine we arrived at a hostel. We ended up chatting three hours with the lady that was running the hostel. Then she asked, have you seen the glowing algea? We: No. She then immediately took us in the car and drove us to the beach at 11 AM. After setting one foot in the water, a blue, kind of electricity looking glow went through the water. It was the first time I saw Bioluminescent Algae. It was probably the most beautiful natural wonder I have seen so far.

Since Ireland I have accumulated alot more cool story's, so feel free to ask.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can totally teach you some Dutch words, share some amazing stories and be a general good chap.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can definitely offer you a great conversation, cook a traditional Dutch dish if the ingredients are available, give you some tips on how to hitchhike or just chill.
