Overview
About Me
I was born in Holland, and my parents and my brother immigrated to NZ when I was 12. I grew up in the Bay of Plenty (Katikati) and when I was 18 moved to Christchurch to study at university. I ended up with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Chemistry and Physics. I love music, I play the drums, saxophone, harmonica and sing. I started my own company in 2003 www.rhythminteractive.co.nz performing interactive drum shows for corporate events and Schools without a word spoken as part of the theme "Actions speak louder than words:" and with the aim to encourage and inspire people to change their lives and our world for the better. I have traveled extensively throughout Australasia, South East Asia and Europe, and parts of the Caribbean. I love life and most of all living it, following dreams and creating adventures.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have a big passion for classic cars, I have recently purchased a 1968 Ford Torino and need to drive this back from Vancouver to LA for shipping back to New Zealand, A great excuse for a beautiful road trip :)
Music, Movies, and Books
I love music especially blues and reggae (too many bands to mention), my favorite movies: Shaw Shank Redemption, Talented Mr Ripley, All Leonardo Di Caprio movies, love any David Attenborough documentaries, mad enthusiasts for comedy festivals, music festivals and crazy about Cirque du Soleil. I'm currently reading "The Power of the Other" by Dr Henry Cloud
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have done a few, but one amazing thing I have done was driving a 1967 car with a friend around Australia, it ended up being 25000 kms and took 12 months, crazy trip lots and lots of camp fire stories were created on this journey!
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm a musician so always keen to share music even more play music. My profession is drum facilitation, I do shows where each member in the audience is given an African styled hand drum, the performance is such that no word is spoken throughout the performance as part of a theme "Actions speak louder than words" and "Together we can make a change" I have been doing these shows since 2003 and over the years have learned how to create Collective Flow with my audiences, higher levels of group focus. This to me is a fascinating concept and is a great concept to share with others. I'm a drum teacher also so if someone is keen in a lesson and they have a drum, I can show you some tricks. I have many travelling stories, which to me are my favorite stories of people and places
