I grew up travelling a lot and I still can't get enough of it. I love seeing the world for real, not through pictures or reading about it. I love to see places from the perspective of the people who live there, visiting the local supermarkets, going to the restaurants that the locals go to, reading the signs in the local language even if I don't understand it, and especially trying out the local food and drink (though I'm a vegetarian, so unfortunately I miss out on some dishes because of that). Although I might on occasion also visit the tourist sights, that's rarely what I travel for.

I'm quite social and love to meet new exciting people, and travelling is a great way to do so.

I think that because I grew up travelling and often stayed at other people's houses, I'm quite an easy person to host. At least that's what people keep telling me. I can be social and love to see the world from other people's perspective and experiences, but I'm also very easy going and don't need people to entertain me, I can quite easily stroll through the city on my own for days on end just watching the world.

Interests

My parents took me on my first trip abroad when I was just a few months old, and I've kept travelling ever since. Often for extended time, up to seven months away from home, and going all over the world (though I have yet to visit South America, and have only been to one country each in Africa and Asia).
I am interested in languages, specifically closely related languages, which is also where most of my studies have been. Although I've studied many languages, I wouldn't say I'm fluent in them yet.
I love to meet new people as I feel like every new meeting and new person is a chance to learn and experience new things that I otherwise would have missed out on.
