About Me

I am trying to find myself again. My relationship with my wife is ending. Our incompatibilities with each other have finally created enough conflict to resort to ending our life together. I desire not to dwell on this with future hosts, yet offer it as an explanation for possible moments of melancholy. Otherwise, I am a very pragmatic person skilled in a variety of things with many unique experiences. I am an avid fly-fisherman having built my own rods, tied my own flies and backpacked into the remote wilderness of Wyoming (my home) to catch native trout. I am an expert at reading maps and navigating in the wilderness. I spend my Springs walking big game winter range (Springtime in Wyoming happens subtly in the mountains yet most beautifully); my collection of naturally shed moose, deer, and, elk antlers is a visible indication of this propensity. Were I to be retired, I would spend as much of my time as possible in the foothills and mountains. Yet, as I have not figured out how to live without working, I have take a variety of jobs to sustain myself and family. Most notably, I worked for 4 out of the last 5 years as an engine rebuilder and machinist. In the last year I spent 6 months working as a wind turbine technician and subsequently found myself back in college having had enough of breaking my body and numbing my mind for a paycheck. I am studying civil engineering and land surveying at the University of Wyoming. While trying for this degree is difficult, it pales in comparison to the back-breaking work I thought was my career. I'm in the midst of patching life back together after my wife decided she no longer want to be with me. (Finding work, house, regular food etc.) I'm traveling to find some positive experiences before I return to school this fall; looking for big fish and friends wherever they may occur.

Music, Movies, and Books

This depends on the mood. When I am cleaning the house its Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Doors or the Animals all the way. When I'm feeling nostalgic or good, its the Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, Cat Stevens, Elton John or Billy Joel. When I'm sad, its the Blues and often Willie Nelson, Otherwise its Jazz.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Two, sorry. During the summer of 2011, I rode a 3 speed bicycle alone from Oregon to Delaware to see a part of the country I had never seen. It was the most fantastic time I've ever had. Secondly, to cope with the dullness of my commute, I chopped and reconfigured 4 bicycles into a 7-foot tall bicycle that I now ride most everyday.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am an expert with engines, I am skilled with sharpening, tying flies, fly fishing, camping. Great at teaching too.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my perspective based on what experiences I've had. I can also share mechanical expertise and, as I am a tall person, organizational tactics to make life easier for other tall people. (Never said that before but whatever, its a weird true fact). I'm skilled at a lot actually. Without elaborating in this, I will use my skills to strive to make your life a little bit easier in exchange for a place to stay for a bit.
