About Me

Vaccinated x3
Update: currently not accepting guests. (I live with roommates who aren't open to CSs)
Important: my place is not only open for travelers who wants to enjoy their time, hang out, have fun, etc. but also to women, in specific, and people in general, who are going through a rough time in their lives. It's specially open to women and people belonging to the LGBTQ+ community who do not feel comfortable where they live (for whatever reason) and need support in the form of a place to temporarily stay in for days, a week, two, or more (in sperate time frames). I personally passed through a tough time with finding a 'home' and it blew my mind how some men I knew here and who I met and know personally refused to open their places for me with a welcoming attitude, refused to even host me, or offered just one night accomodation. I don't know about their personal cases so I can't judge but I personally think if I were that p-r-i-v-i-l-e-g-e-d with everything in my life "insured" and I had their comfy homes, I know I wouldn't show such a lack of emotional understanding and/or compassion, to say the least. I do my best not to be "that", that's all I know.

Also, coming to Germany for the first time and not finding any accomodation and wanting support until you can take your breath and start finding a place for your own is normal and the shortage of places is not your fault. Absolutely No Couchsurfer in Freiburg hosted me as a student coming in the winter semester first time to Germany. I don't have that "conspiracy theory" that you want my place only to sleep. No, I am not afraid of you wanting a good sleep 😴 Spending time in a place that is not a hotel for any reason is totally understandable. I enjoy knowing people yes but am also not existing to pay for everything even my breath. I don't always want to pay 30+ in a dirty and expensive hotel in Germany where it's impossible to socialize😂 (which is completely triggering for all sorts of mental health issues incl. Anxiety and depression) Resting, needing a place is not forbidden, fuck that! The human encounter is enough for me and is an investment in the CS community.

🌎 I read profiles of Couchsufers thoroughly so I would appreciate it if you read mine before hand✨

🌎 One important aspect I try to abide by in receiving people is this:

🫂 φιλοξενία (PHILOXENIA), a joyful generosity that is more than hospitality."🫂

🌎 I don‘t believe in any ideology that have a divisive, violent, judgmental, or conservative nature i.e religions, nationalism, etc., but rather on whatever brings people together, e.g native intelligence, music, dancing, pain, joy, sex, or general curiosity.

🌎 I appreciate openness, patience, understanding, and peace making than rolling eyes and claiming superiority over other opinions, ideas, cultures, or people. However, I have had few experiences here with people who show such arrogant sentiments and I handled it with politeness and respect so feel free to be who you are and speak your mind. I believe it’s ok for people to ask bombshell questions and not get cut off. Everyone has the right to ask so they get a chance to evolve, I agree with Jameela Jamil on that. So, my head is a rolling eyes free zone.

🌎 We all have points where we can meet, connect, share life experiences, find shared history, etc. Seeing people as "vibes" or "energies" and judging them according to that only is something I do not do. I am trying my best not to follow the extreme “self-love“ trend on social media that promotes pretty much cutting people off your life right away or not dealing with people who are not “up to the standards“. In my eyes, everyone is unique and different and interesting. I just look closely, listen, and learn.

🌎 I don't expect people to speak my native language: Arabic, so please don't expect me to speak Spanish, German, or any other mother tongue you might have, fluently. It takes time to reach fluency and effort from two speakers not just one. So, if English happened to be the language with which we both can communicate, I will use it in communicating with you and discuss later if it's really a "universal" language.

🌎 The only topic that is not "up for a discussion" for me is the Palestinian cause. I don't have time to unracist somone or humanize anybody. Am busy. I stand with all women, especially Palestinian women, children, elderly, men, animals, cats, members of the LGBTQ+ community in them being free. I reject colonization and apartheid in all its shapes and forms and that does Not mean am anti-Semitic (don't try and play word games or mansplain the word to me). This is the typical accusation people get speaking about human rights in Palestine. If it's important to say it, I am a Semite, too, but that doesn't matter at all actually. I support the cause for humane reasons. Again, I stand up All the way against Apartheid/racism/massacres, and genocides.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I used to host people I meet on the way before I knew about the app. When people who knows nothing about each other meet, have late night chitchat and talks, it‘s almost always their true selves that‘s talking. What‘s better to hear than “I have never told anybody about that before“ knowing that we won‘t judge. Knowing that there‘s nothing to be frowned at helps people set aside their fear of judgment and feel free to open up.
( Important: 1- Couchsurfing is not a way for me to hook up)
( 2-Please go through my profile. I won’t be so excited replying to His and Heys and holas, I would appreciate decent detailed messages of why you would want to hang out with me or be my guest. Please don‘t send me your number unsolicitedly, I am not gonna call you!)
3- I don‘t do anything for a good reference. I don’t wait for references. Also, having too many references doesn‘t say a lot about Couchsurfers, that‘s what I have come to realize. I also won‘t write a reference that includes descriptions like nice, cool, great, respectful, etc, if it was just a short hang out and I didn‘t have a clear picture yet of who am I dealing with. However, some hang outs are extraordinary and one can‘t just help themselves but to write about it. If you don‘t have any references and you‘re eager about Couchsurfing and we just hanged out once, I might write a reference letter as a gesture of encouraging you to invest in the community.)
