About Me

Im 27 yo, "work-home-work" kinda guy :) Im introvert and a little socially awkward, but Im likeable at the same time.
Im told that Im very aprochable and that Im open minded person.
I come from single parent background and have been rased by my mother. I love her dearly and Im really thankfull to her for everything she has done for me.
I dont have big family so for me family is really important. Im the older brother of two sisters.
I dont have many friends, but those few that I have I care a lot about and try to maintain good and healthy relationship with them. For me it is a little bit hard to go up to others and meet them, I need to get to know them a little for me to be able to open up to them, but hopefully by using Couchsurfing that can help me get over some of the frightening parts of meeting new people. It is something I would want to work on myself.
I studied Electrical engineering and have been working as electrician for close to 10 years now. I have worked different types of jobs, crane work, plumbing, construction, woodworking, roadbuilding, excavator job, forklift job, CNC operator, Mechanic and many other jobs.
Im allways eager to learn something new and I almost never refuse opertunities to learn new skills from people who offer there expertise. I also find YouTube good place to get educated, because contentmakers nowdays are so experienced and offer so much advanced and detailed information on about any topic you might be interested.
Like I mentioned at the beggining my life up untill 2020 summer has been only work and home, so I havent really traveled that much and seen anything outside my hometown Tukums. The opertunity for me to fulfill my dreams has opened and I feel ready to take first steps in expanding my worldview even though Im slightly hesitant.
Thankfully i had a job offer that alows me to travel a little bit and I have already visited Lithuania and Estonia. There is job ligned up also for Finland, so Im really excited for that.
I must say, that coming up with the things to say about me proves to be a little bit harder than I tought initially.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I would like to get out of my comfort zone and meet new people, have a conversation, share some stories, learn other cultures, introduce myself to new concepts. I feel that I am really eager to learn and expand my world view.
I havent had a chance to really travel much after finishing school and after some information gathering I came across Couchsurfing and decided to take a shot - atleast try and see what it has to offer.

Interests

I would be interested in meditation practices, yoga or other relaxation practices. This would maybe help me to quit smoking, since Im using it as a stress relief altough I know its not helping me.
Also I would be interested in learning Japanise "Kata" for both meditation and self centralazing purposes.
Im really interested in learning about Viking era - its culture, origins, boatbilding, tools, weapons, pagan traditions, gods and godesses, sacrafice rituals (Im not practicing it, just interested in history) and lifestyle.
I like hand made things, thats always mindblowing for me. Peoples creativity suprises and amazes me, it is so inspiring and I get good joy out of seeing whats possible to do if you put your mind and talent into something.
Sinse Im on Couchsurfing - abviously I would like to travel and meet new people, attend some courses, learn different languages ( even if its few words or a sentence ), expand my worldview and feed my curiousity for the unknown.
I would love to learn new skills like cooking(I can cook some foods, but Im not a great cheff), playing acoustic guitar, use of woodworking hand tools, basicly Im open to learn anything because you never know what is your passion untill you come across something that just consumes you.
I would love to learn to sing some folk or traditional music, but I must warn you, that I dont have that great of a singing voice :D Its the same for dancing, I would really like to learn to dance, but bear has steped on both of my ears and I dance like I have two left legs. It would be nice to sometime learn to dance and not step on other persons foot all the time :D

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to everything, I got no music preferences.
Love oldschool movies - Shawshank Redemption is my favorite
Recently finished reading Dr. Jordan Petersons - Maps of meaning

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Cought fish with bare hands :D

Teach, Learn, Share

For many years I sang at Latvian choirs and ansambles, so music, especially tradicional Latvian music and folk music is really close to my heart. I have also atended every Latvian song and dance festival thats organazed every 4th year to help save Latvian culture and tradtitions thru music and dance. I have also attended Nordic and Baltic song festival one time.
I hold dear many of Latvian traditions, try to follow its sayings, because to me, they have deeper meaning on how you should conduct yourself, how you should treat your parents, family, friends, people around you and life in general.
Im really interested in Nordic Viking origins, its tradicions, beliefs, gods, lifestyle and music. Would love to exchange some of my knowledge and learn new things and new insights in Viking world.

What I Can Share with Hosts

As for what I would have to offer to someone considering hosting me - you should expect me to be considerete, open minded, rules following, trustworthy person with strong moral foundation.
I will be happy if you as a host could find some time to teach me some of your interests, traditions and share your life story, because Im a big believer that everyone has a story.
I would be interested in activities with my host - even something as simple as going for a walk or sitting in a park, playing some card games, chess or little advanced stuff like rock climbing, long hike, maybe even bungee jumping.
You should expect me to offer something in exchange for allowing me to be your guest based on what you would consider good and fair offering. As Latvians we pretty much automaticaly bring something if we are expected to be guests, so just a heads up, its a cultural thing for me and please dont refuse well intended gesture.
My host should know that Im not loud person and Im confortable beeing in silence (Music, TV, cars on street or other loud things dont bother me). Im always aware of other peoples needs and Im trying not to disturb anyones peace and right for good nights rest.
I should mention that I dont have any problems with pets, Im not alergic to any animals (to my knowledge).
Im also good with children, they dont bother me eather.
I have no problem with sharing my Facebook information or exchange of phone number for my potential host, both for comunication and safety purposes for my host.

If I have forgotten to add something please ask and I will make sure to answer all your questions :)
