About Me
Hi there, my name is Axel 👋🏻.
I'm a programmer crafted in 1998. I love to solve complex puzzles and make a living doing so in the energy industry.
In my free time I like to fly gliders, do some reading, knitting interrailing and trainspotting. When I am having a holiday, I like to spend it by discovering new places and traveling by train. Besides the ecological aspect, it is just such a nice way to get around! You can see a lot of the scenery while on the way, your 'final destination' - if there is one anyway - is not your only one: you can just stop anywhere you think is worth stopping and take another train somewhere else when you get tired of that place. This also makes it so much easier to meet new people in and from different places, makes you a more relaxed traveler and gives you peace of mind (because something wíll go wrong anyway).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Like I said, I love to discover the world by interrailing. And in doing so, stopping in multiple places and meeting new people there. For me, Couchsurfing is a special place, a platform that makes it easier for people with this mindset to meet each other. And it doesn't matter if you are looking for a place to sleep, an event to attend or helping others by providing a bed. I think it is wonderful how people can meet this way and I have yet to have my first negative experience using Couchsurfing.

Music, Movies, and Books
Electronic dance and house are my favorite, but I also like 80's and rock.
Artists that are very cool are Martin Garrix, Froukje, Lizzo, Fox Stevenson, Bad Computer, Ellis, Grant, Prins S. en de Geit, P!nk, Half an Orange and Elton John in my book.
Not much of a TV/movie watcher nowadays but I really enjoyed 'Stranger Things' and 'Dark'.
The best book I've read so far is 'Project Hail Mary' by Andy Weir, but I'm currently reading "Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow" from Gabrielle Zevin and that might become one of my favorites too!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Becoming a glider pilot and soaring the sky; being able to fly is just awesome!
Teach, Learn, Share
I know a thing or two about flying, computers, depressions, nature, knitting, trains, interrailing, the (dutch) electricity network, how to play the game 'The Werewolves of Millers Hollow', and a dozen other things you'll have to find out yourself.
I like to learn what other people are like, what drives them, where they have been and what they have seen. I also like to share about my own experiences to this regard.
What I Can Share with Hosts
People say that I have a great smile and have a positive energy. I like to share that with anyone I encounter and see where we connect. I believe that you can learn something from everybody on this planet and if you are just a little bit curious about the world, you should!
