My name is Helene, and I'm glad to join the Couchsurfing community. For the past few years, I worked as a management assistant for a building company. While I enjoyed some aspects of this work, I knew deep down that my true calling was to become a social worker. I recently took the plunge and left my position to pursue my dream of helping others.

One of the things that drew me to social work was the opportunity to connect with people from all walks of life. That's also why I love traveling so much. I believe that the more we explore the world and learn about different cultures, the more empathy and understanding we can cultivate. I'm constantly inspired by the kindness and generosity of people I meet on my travels, and I can't wait to continue expanding my horizons.

I read "Le comte de Monte-Cristo", which stands as one of my favorite books of all times. Otherwise, I wouldn't describe myself as a bookworm. Like many people, I read all Harry Potter, Twilight and Hunger Games books and a few other novels.

For the past three years, my partner and I spent a lot of time building a house together. Beyond the satisfaction of making it by ourselves, we learned a lot about the technicals on one hand, and our ability to surpass oneself on the other hand, as such a big project can be quite challenging.
