About Me

My name is Gonzalo, I've studied a lot of careers in my life but I have never finished any of them. It always seemed to me that none of them approached life in the right way.

A couple of years ago I came across Tibetan Buddhism in Nepal and my life changed completely: finally I found something that made sense for me. From that moment on, I've been trying to dedicate more time to study and practice. Since I do not have any religious background, it has not been easy to establish a daily practice and to generate faith in the Buddha's teachings, but slowly I've been able to grow as a spiritual practitioner. I now dedicate most of my life to doing that and I hope I can make the world a better place by transmitting these teachings someday.

I'm also curious to know about anything related to other cultures. Hanging out with people helps me learn about their mind and that is an amazing opportunity to continue to grow internally. Learning to accept the differences that we may have with each other is also an opportunity to increase tolerance, acceptance, patience and morality.

May we all be able to benefit someone today 🙏

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm here to meet cool people and make good, warmhearted connections around the world. A friend is a valuable thing.

Interests

I'm a very courious person and I like to learn about the nature of reality. Although this may sound a bit abstract, I think it is actually the thing we all care about all the time:

What is reality? Who are we? Why are we here? What happens after death?

There are multiple ways of approaching these issues: philosophy, religion and science are just some of them. After all, isn't art another way to try to answer these very questions? isn't music the same thing also?

Music, Movies, and Books

The Beatles, Bee Gees, Charly Garcia, Spinetta

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- I spent a month in a tibetan buddhist monastery.
- I've attended three 10-day vipassana courses.
- I spent one year in Asia and Oceania
- I've traveled for about eight months throughout South America.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can (and am happy to) share my knowledge about buddhist philosophy and psychology. I'm happy to talk about any other topic as well.

I am firmly convinced that conversation helps dissolve the false barriers that we humans have constructed in between one another. In reality we are deeply interconnected, and a heartfelt talk can help us perceive this connection.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd be delighted to play the guitar for you 😊 I can also cook some delicious vegetarian meals.
