Chi sono

Hi, I’m Amy!

I’m a U.S. expat currently based in Maadi Degla, Cairo, Egypt but my nomad journey started long before that. I lived in Syria for over a decade — before the uprising, before the internet was everywhere — and during that time, I hosted hundreds of travelers through Couchsurfing and Thorn Tree. Those experiences are still some of my favorite memories: sharing meals, swapping stories, and building friendships across cultures.

These days, I work remotely, blending entrepreneurship with a love for travel. I’m well-versed in AI tools and travel hacks, but for me, the best part of this lifestyle is still the people I meet along the way. I’m easygoing, respectful, and happy to match whatever vibe works best — whether that’s sharing a drink, exploring the area, or quietly coexisting.

Looking forward to connecting and sharing a little bit of the road together!

Perché sono iscritto su Couchsurfing

I’ve been part of the Couchsurfing community for years — first as a host in Syria, where I welcomed hundreds of travelers before the uprising. Now, as I travel for work and adventure, I’m excited to reconnect with that same spirit of community. For me, Couchsurfing isn’t just about finding a place to stay; it’s about meeting people, sharing stories, and experiencing places through the eyes of those who live there.

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto

One amazing thing I’ve done is completely reinvent myself — more than once. I learned to speak Arabic fluently during the years I lived in Syria, and was I’m tackling Spanish while building a living in Costa Rica this past year. Reinvention has become my superpower, and each language I learn feels like unlocking a new version of myself.

Cosa posso offrire ai padroni di casa

I can offer hosts great company, respect for their space, and plenty of good conversation if they’re up for it. I’m tidy, flexible, and happy to contribute however I can — whether that’s sharing travel hacks, cooking a meal, or helping with tech or AI tools. Mostly, I bring a positive, easygoing energy and a genuine appreciation for anyone willing to open their home.
