About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Living and learning!

ABOUT ME

My husband Tom and I are older than most of the surfers I've seen on the lists, but we still have the interests and pastimes of younger people. We love to spend time outdoors - hiking, biking, x-country skiing, stand-up paddling. We love traveling, but prefer working projects and meaningful interaction with the locals to museums and churches. If you're into television and hard core music, we're probably not your best choice!

PHILOSOPHY

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Grigio in one hand - chocolate in the other - totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO, What a Ride"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We've hosted several surfers and it's all been good! We're also registered with Warm Showers, a database for touring bicyclists, and we've had lots of respondents and those have been great fun as well. We surfed for the first time August 2013 and had a wonderful CS experience in Sheridan, WY, with Tom Balding!!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We know lots of surfers who have wonderful stories to tell of their CS adventures! - even in places like Indonesia, India, Morocco, in addition to the US and Europe. We've hosted a bunch of surfers and get as much out of their stay as they do because of what they bring to the conversation!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Tom and I have a wide variety of interests, so we find it easy to engage in conversations. We're an easy-going, friendly, tidy, caring couple of people who enjoy meeting others and hearing about their interests and experiences. We both like to cook and would certainly enjoy being sous chefs or preparing a meal with anyone who would host us. This is my profile, but Tom and I do this together, so I should mention that he grew up in NJ. While at American University, he studied abroad in Ireland for a year. He was also a Peace Corps volunteer in Paraguay and is fluent in Spanish. He is a research resource economist for the Forest Service and has traveled to far more countries than I have. In addition to doing most of the same things I like to do, he also plays squash. And, he's a much better biker than I! :o}
