ABOUT ME
Well, I'm about 5' 9", 138 lbs. I've lost most of my brown hair, although I do have a trimmed beard. I'm pretty proud of my previous occupation working with flowers and young people for so many years. We continue to stay in touch , much like a very extended family. I built the house in which I live...we're both a little rough around the edges. I'm usually involved in an art project...have an open book laying about...'talking' to people via e-mail...planning my next trip. I guess I qualify as rather open minded and UN-republican in basic political views. I'm interested in multiculturalism and diversity. I live alone...and I am the proud father of a wonderful daughter and grandfather of three.
If you would like to read an article written about me by Alex Zayas of the St. Petersburg Times, Google: "Rustic House Is Home To Seasoned Flower Child "
PHILOSOPHY
I'd like to continue to search for that elusive epiphany that does not threaten life and limb.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
While kicking around in Bern Switzerland , my girlfriend and I were taken in by a cab driver and given the run of the house that he shared with two other medical students. We had our own keys to the place for several days as we saw the sights and shared stories late into the night.
We met a couple in Lyon France in a cafe one evening. Jean-jacques showed us all around the city the next day...even when he went on an emergency call to oversee the clean up site of a radio-active chemical spill. He apologized and offered the use of his car, but we declined(no License) Still, I was taken by his generosity to us.
I met a couple of English lads in the camping park out at Fort Desoto. They stayed at my place for several days , availing themselves of the sights here in central Florida. Lots of English beer!
Interests
Well, I'm interested in art...however defined or diverse. Presently, I'm working on a portrait. I play guitar, flute, harmonica..and accordion. Maybe eventually the keyboard. I like building things, so there is usually a project in the works. I try to keep fit, and enjoy hiking and biking. And of course, I do enjoy travelling...especially to France. Then again, much closer to home....I like to visit my property in North Carolina.

Music, Movies, and Books
Musically, I'm interested in everything from singer-songwriter solo guitar to jazz ensemble...it just depends. Movies, I liked Amalie, Year of living Dangerously, China-town, Casablanca, adventure and period drama, I suppose. Right now I'm reading Cuba Libra by Elmore Leonard,...anything by James Lee Burke or in the Carl Hiaasan genre. How could I leave out The Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Universe by Doug Adams.?!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The most amazing thing that I have done in my life was to erase the line between vocation and avocation...to actually make a living in my life while having a blast!
I think that all of our studies and travels provide the paths to this end.
Teach, Learn, Share
Perhaps share an interest in art...and there's always something new to learn in guitar ....or perhaps how to make a wooden flute, or throw a clay form on the potter's wheel.
