Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

when i have a home my couch is open to anyone who won't rob me or creep me out.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

it has usually been friends without housing crashing on my couches for months at a time; homeless friends as well; trainrunners and hitchhikers stake out my backyard on my sister's advice; i have crashed couches for months on end or, during summer months, found a condemned house/apartment to sleep in

Music, Movies, and Books

Cunt by Inga Muscio; The Alphabet Versus the Goddess by Leonard Shlain; The Chalice and The Blade by Riane Eisler; The World Without US by Alan Weisman; The Monkey Wrench Gang (and many essays) by Edward Abbey; Ishmael, The Story of B by Daniel Quinn; Tony Hoagland; Don DeLilo; Ayn Rand; and so many other authors!
ecclectic in my music tastes (most of the mainstream stuff can stay off my mental jukebox)
Movies: i go ADD and can't pay attention to most of them...but Eternal Sunshine for the Spotless Mind; Dr. Strangelove; Dogville; documentaries of any kind; that zeitgeist movie was pretty sweet; anything on conspiracy theories and how much the government blows

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

watching sunsets; writing poetry in the trees; watching a spider eat the fly that's been a nuisance for a month; playing with my puppies who are my adopted children; falling in love;
falling in love with myself

Teach, Learn, Share

Growth for the sake of growth is the idiology of the cancer cell. --Edward Abbey

To feed a starving child is to exacerbate the world population problem.

Putting humans in charge of the Earth is the cosmic equivalence of giving rapists control of virginity.

The only real good technology is no technology at all. Technology is taxation without representation, imposed by our elitist species (man) upon the rest of the natural world.

We must reclaim the roads and the plowed land, halt dam construction, tear down existing dams, free shackled rivers and return to wilderness tens of millions of acres of presently settled land.

Environment can never be saved as long as cities exist.

Trees are for hanging. Kill a developer.

The Earth is not dying--it's being killed. And the people killing it have names and addresses.

No comprimise in defence of Mother Earth.
