À propos de moi

CURRENT MISSION

Performing circus with Moniek for Syrian refugees along the migrant route and documenting my experience in writing and video.

ABOUT ME

I mostly like to think of myself as a writer. The thing about writing is: it forces you to pay attention to life, to feel the rain sliding down your cheeks, to contemplate a kid chasing birds. I have this urge to relate to people on a deeper level than buying an orange at the supermarket. Humans used to look at each other and feel something for strangers. I don't believe in us being so different and scared of our selves. Fear is a great way for governments to control their people and for businessmen to make lots of money so they can sit alone in their big houses. If you're afraid, you'll buy the cure for fear. People don't know that the cure's not for sale. It's free hard work. I'm killing my fear on this road.
I like hitchhiking most of the time because you get to know the kind people of the region and learn patience and hardship.
Seeing you smile or smelling the air makes me feel good. I don't know why but it does. Challenging myself with new achievable tasks makes me feel important which in turn makes me feel good. I like feeling good and do so most of the time. I love a lot about life and I think it's pretty fun to be here. I'm easy going, going easy, and want to taste the world while it's still here.
I play the ukulele too.

PHILOSOPHY

The meaning of life is life. Literally. Life is living. And I'm going to live it as hard and as well and as long as I can because there's nothing better to do.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Surfing has taught me that many cultures share the same desire to help others. It is a nice thing to know. Sharing what you have when you have it is my favorite thing to do. I don't really believe in borders or property or races or money. I just believe in eye contact and hugs. I like to meet real people. This is a pretty good way to find them I guess.

Centres d'intérêt

reading, writing, photography, human nature, natural nature, music, history, biking, languages, sounds, food, climbing things, feeling good, sharing, shade, dancing, art, juggling, creating, kissing, drama, beaches, stars, you know, life, the usual stuff.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

Music: Old timey, They might Be Giants, Klezmer, People on the street.

Movies: There are some good movies (La Vita Bella, Big fish, Superbad,) but usually I prefer to live for two hours rather than watch made up people live. Movies make us compare life to movies. And I don't think it's the best way to find out if you have something in common with one another.

Books: Dave Eggers is good most of the time. I like The Little Prince. J.D. Salenger was my first favorite. I hate John Stienbeck. I like writing more than reading.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

I've hitched all over the U.S. and Canada a few times recently I traveled through Turkey, Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova, Romania, Hungary, Austria, Slovenija, Italia, the French Riviera, Spain, France again, England, Wales, Ireland- I've clowned for refugees and others in Jordan, Palestine, Egypt, and Lebanon. I've chased down two purse snachers. I've been arrested four times politically and never convicted. I played the coliseum in Rome and made enough change to pay for my entrance fee. I played my way to the top of the le Tour Eiffel. I was born.

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

I know English. That's a hot commodity these days right? I know music, and how to juggle, and how to play a number of great card games. I want to learn languages and stories about your family. I want to hear about your dreams. I want to write a story about you because I think you are very interesting. I'll make you laugh if you laugh because of the things I do and vise versa.
