ABOUT ME
After two years in Kyrgyzstan and almost four years on the road, Pete and I moved to Neuffen last summer. Neuffen is a small town in Schwabia, Germany. I think this is the biggest cultural challenge for us so far. A new researcher-position brought us here, Pete works remotely for a San Francisco based social start up enabling artisans from all over the world to sell their crafts online (www.globein.com).
A bit about our journey: After finishing my degree in migration studies in 2009 life took myself on that path, following Pete to Wyoming for summer 2010 and then venturing to South America. In Wyoming, Pete worked for an outdoor education company in Jackson Hole. After a short period back in Germany, we travelled on to Kyrgyzstan.
I love music. I used to play the fiddle in a folk band. If possible, my violine travels with me. I love playing sessions and getting to know people through music.
Pete loves cycling, is very curious about different economies and - at the moment - interested in local arts.
We both love travel and nature, try to encounter cities only for urban holidays.
Beyond that, our passions change constantly I guess.
PHILOSOPHY
Pete and I are trying to live our lives as low-impact as possible, knowing that it is pretty much impossible living far plane flights away from our families. One of my oldest philosophies is don't be judgmental about something you haven't seen with your own eyes, which is how my travel bug was born I guess.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We've hosted a few people while living in Osnabrueck and more in Bishkek. We've joined couchsurfing because we love learning about people and places from people who are engaged and involved where they are, and because we love travellers bringing some fresh air and traveling spirit to our place when we are at home.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I couchsurfed once coincidentally in Park City, Utah. Originally, I was only planning to catch a ride with my host, but my train arrived so late that we decided to stay at his place before hitting the road again. We had a good time and he crashed at our place in Jackson the next night. I think the next experience was CS Slovenia, lots of fun. Tons of fun hosting the most diverse bunch of people in Bishkek

Music, Movies, and Books
Thought-provoking books and movies. Folk and music influenced by folk. I love playing and learning about different folk styles (esp. want to learn more bluegrass right now), any type of experimental, well-done crossover.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Playing music with my closest friends.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love learning about the places where I am. Their sociopolitical situations, my ecological, political and social environment... Also always love learning about peoples philosophies and spiritual thoughts, if conversations go that way, and of course - music, playing music with people, sharing my music. I can share a bit of yoga with peopleAs a new entrepreneur, Pete loves exchainging views about that, online marketing and how to save the world with gentle forms of tourism and arts and crafts
