CURRENT MISSION Aiming to balance the expansiveness of travel with the familiarity of home. ABOUT ME I have the "itchy foot" and have been an avid traveler. While I love to see sights and take photos, I've most enjoyed my longer trips where I was able to mix in with the culture and people more. I now work in tourism mostly leading school groups on US history tours in DC and the East Coast. PHILOSOPHY Travel philosophy: if you over-plan and structure your journey in order to minimize meeting with the risks and the devils, which are few, you'll likewise prevent yourself from meeting the miracles and the angels, which are many.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE The philosophy is not new to me, as my Peace Corps service in the Marshall Islands, and stays in Europe and Latin America involved host families, and I've always found an easy camaraderie with global travelers. Since joining couchsurfing, I've hosted a few times, but mostly have used it to connect with others socially both at home and during my travels. 2016 Update: After 8 years on CS now, I've hosted maybe 15 times, and been hosted a few. Good experiences, but recently, I haven't been hosting. Not sure why; perhaps it's another online forum I'd just rather not try to keep track of. So I may not respond to requests.
