About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enjoying my baby, studying quantum midwifery, trying to figure out what next to do with my life and planning far too many trips than can really fit in my budget or a lifetime!

ABOUT ME

I've always hated this question, talk about myself? I'd much rather hear about you. But if I must...after growing up in washington (the state, NOT the capitol), where everyone laments the ruin californians have brought upon our fair evergreen state, I am now living in California (and falling in love with it), Crafting and Mothering by day and waiting tables by night, and riding my rusty bike all over. Most of my non-European traveling I've done working on the Semester at Sea ship, so I like to think of myself as a bit of a sailor, or at least that's my justification for my love of whiskey and creative language skills!

PHILOSOPHY

Difficult situations and people are not things to bring you down, but rather experiences to learn and grow from. Life is usually how you perceive it so if you decide that you'd rather learn than be upset, life's challenges becomes a lot easier to bear.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My roommate Chris became a couchsurfer before me, and my other roommate Derya came to the house as a couchsurfer and stayed on. So our house has hosted plenty of wonderful CSers throughout the years. And I hope to continue the tradition.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only had good experiences so far. Everyone that has stayed at the house has definitely brought some wisdom or inspiration or joy to share with my housemates and me. I love knowing that this community of caring, sharing, trusting, and adventurous people exists. I also went to a fort party at the Berkeley headquarters and had such a wonderful time even though I didn't know anyone there except the one couchsurfer I went with. Everyone was so open, friendly, and interesting, definitely indicative of the overall CS community. I've usually been on the hosting side of things, but my times c-surfing in Mexico and Santa Cruz were
magical!

Teach, Learn, Share

I know this is kind of random, but the first thing that comes to mind is a little health tip. I'm always telling people how they should cure mild ailments, so I might as well do that here also. Probably the most simple yet helpful items you have in the house is Salt. Salt can be helpful in curing mild infection. For eye infections make a mild solution of salt and warm water and wash the eye with it 3 to 4 times a day and the infection should subside within a couple of days. make sure to wash your hands thoroughly before and after to avoid spreading infection. It's much less expensive and more effective than the prescription drops. Also for sinus infections or if you feel a cold coming on, rinse the nose out with a warm, mildly salty water. A neti pot can make this easier, but you can also just use a cup.
