About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To stop and have a look around

ABOUT ME

I'm a product of the melting pot, French Canadian and Italian ancestry. A craftsman at heart and in practice. I'm just trying to soak up as much as I can, build on my experiences and pass on what I can to others.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm try to streamline my life as much as I can, although I don't want to take this to far as it becomes obnoxious. So I try to recognize when to take myself serious and when its time to just laugh at it all.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I don't see a lot of CS traffic here in New Hampshire but I'm eager to host when ever someone comes through. Many people have taken me in through CS (more so than my profile might suggest- I participated with my good friend Isaiah for many great CS encounters)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

When I first learned of couchsurfing it saved me from a wandering the night through in a blistering cold foreign city, moving simply to stay warm. From that night on I have found myself in many homes far and wide, grinning often marveling at how I came to be there.

Interests

There is no limit to my interests but to focus on a few I love cooking, tasting new foods and learning about food, sharing. As a woodworker I'm interested in compact living spaces, kitchens, furniture, architecture. Traveling, adventure, culture. Music, reading, telling stories, language and on and on.

Music, Movies, and Books

My musical interests are broad. To name a few: Ry Cooder, Prince, Erykah Badu, Yo La Tango, Ween, Frank Zappa, The Living Legends, The Grouch, Lauryn Hill, Orchestra Baobab, Paulo Conte, Dela Dap, Balkan Beat Box, Huge Masekela, The Neville Brothers, Steely Dan, Leonard Cohen, Dj Ravin, Royksopp, P-funk

Some books that I have read recently include a book by Peter Hessler called "River Town" about the authors experience in the Peace Corp in a small city in central China. "The Samaritans Dilemma" by Debra Stone, a book about altruism. In the past I have always enjoyed reading John Steinbeck, Kurt Vonnegut and Douglas Adams to name a few.

I always say that I would love to make more time for movies but usually don't. I am always thrilled to go to the cinema when the occasion arises.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Recently I have been delving into the world of fermentation. I have completed a few batches of ginger beer, prepared a crook of kimchi and set the wheels in motion for a heap of sauerkraut, but mostly I've been enjoying kefir de agua. (do you know of it?) Since I have been ingesting a good dosage of microorganisms in my diet I have never felt better.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Fiji, France, French Polynesia, Germany, Haiti, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Laos, Latvia, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Russian Federation, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Viet Nam, Virgin Islands, U.S.
