ABOUT ME

I'm German and have studied and worked for nine years in the US before coming back to Germany and moving to the Rhein-Main area. My wife Yuko is Japanese-American and used to live in Colombia as a child. We met in Hong Kong where we lived for about a year in 95/96 and now have three children.

We used to have lots of Japanese au-pairs. Then we were also hosting with a Syrian refugee mother and her 16-year old son. They're stayed with us for a bit more than a year. Now we have a Japanese college lecturer and her Korean-born daughter staying with us for a year already.

Rosa, our bulldog, sadly passed away last year. We're still happy to host people with dogs and the house shouldn't be considered dog hair free. As of January 2018 Hanna has a hamster. So, if you have a hamster-hair allergy you're out of luck...

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now, I just participate by offering a bed plus a fold-out couch to individuals, couples, groups and especially also FAMILIES travelling through the Rhein-Main area.

Intereses

Addicted to listening to NPR through the internet at home and to catching up on my reading on the commute into Frankfurt.

Música, películas y libros

About 20ft of unread books still waiting for just the right moment. Plenty of books ready to go traveling with interested couchsurfers - I don't keep the ones I've finished reading.

Burning Man 2006, 2010 & 2013 - amazing!
Best vacations: river rafting on the West Coast.
Best recurring vacation: Once a year I work as a cook on large-ish historic sail boats (best was a 150ft. three-mast schooner with a crew of 29), great fun!

Enseña, aprende, comparte

"Cooking, receipes" would be the easiest answer to all three. I'll also talk your ear off about Burning Man if you prompt me...and about civic engagement, life lived leaning forward, how everything is getting better despite daily bad news.
