About Me

I am back in portland and can host.
My friend lent me her car for 20 days, I'm unemployed and it needs an oil change. So if you wanna go on some day trips or overnight camping on mt hood hit me up.

I am in Australia till late may or June, tryng to fall in love with the ocean by surfing and snorkeling, learn about aboriginal culture, read the books i have been lugging around, and experience things i have not imagined.

I am hoping to meet locals for connections as well as couches.
ABOUT ME

Im an american jewish cisgenderd activist who likes exploring the great outdoors, cooking and reading in the great indoors and many other activities. In Portland, Or I have a job that involves talking to strangers and raising awarnes about threats to the Columbia river, fossil fuels and other environmental issues.

This is a break down of my life and interests.
Community
I have been part of various cooperative ventures for 13 years. I have lived in 4 housing cooperatives (group houses that everyone is equal). I currently own my home with a friend. Our house acts as landing spot for local and visiting activists. We bought a house together so we could provide low cost high quality housing for our community, while also allowing her (my co-owner) to live cheaply so we can afford to do activism full time.

While in housing cooperatives I helped with Group meals,Facilitation,Conflict management, Networking

Activism
I was staff (director) for a horizontally run activist center in South West Michigan for 5 years. We teach university students and others how to organize for economic social and environmental justice through praxis (hands on) we also act as a hub for activism for our city (Kalamazoo). As the director I managed volunteers, bottom lined fundraising, put together outreach material and whatever else was needed that the group didn’t have the skill or time for.

I am also a member of the Michigan Coalition against Tar-Sands. We are a grassroots state wide group that uses direct action (mainly though blockading with our bodies) to stop the Tar Sands industry in Michigan and internationally.

If you need help with your NGO i may be able to help you in these areas.

PHILOSOPHY

Im not the best do-er but i am good at finding people that are good do-ers.

I am in Australia till late may or June, tryng to fall in love with the ocean by surfing and snorkeling, learn about aboriginal culture, read the books i have been lugging around, and experience things i have not imagined.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Portland is a hot spot, so i try and host folks when I can, i am part of an emergency couchsurfing group, so i try and help folks find a spot for the night, whether at my house or others places.

I also house people through our own networking about once a month. My community actually has a guest cabin in the backyard so folks can have some privacy.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
mostly good except one fellow i hosted just didnt get it.
