About Me

I've been working for the police in various positions from riot over dispatch to finally becoming an instructor. Especially the latter gave me lots of job satisfaction since it allows me to use my creativity and my positive vibes in order to help my fellow officers achieve their goals.

Since I already joined at age 19 when everybody else went Mango picking in Australia, I felt the need to get travelling for a longer period of time as long as I still feel young enough to endure 8-bed-dorms, so I filed for some unpaid leave until December 1st. You can see my itinerary below. Yes I know, not much room for spontaneity, but maybe this won't be my last longer time off.

28.2-19.3. Taiwan
21.3.-23.4. New Zealand
23.4. - ~15.5. Australia
June-october Whistler, BC, CA Summer job
october: Maryland
October/November: language school and/or paragliding school somewhere in Latin America
1.12. back home

In general, I'm a pretty relaxed and often quiet person, but if the spotlight is on me, I very much like to talk about stuff that I am curious or knowledgable about. So don't hesitate to ask away since knowing and presenting things basically is my day job.

I must admit a certain passion for consumer electronics, so if you have a TV with a HDMI cable, I am happy to serve you a beating in Mario Kart Switch.

Also, I cannot deny browsing 9gag daily, so if you are a memelord, we will probably get along pretty well.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Provided your social battery has some life left in it, CS is obviously a very good way to not just pass by a place but to take a deep dive into the realities of people from faraway places and make some awesome new friends.

Interests

I've really gotten into mountainbiking the last few years. So much so, that I took the opportunity to get a working holiday visa in the only country that would issue me one at my age which happened to be Canada, the capital of mountain biking. So I will work for the bike park in the summer and also, I secured myself an Mtb instructor Job for next season back home.

But of course I like other types of riding too, so if you ever want to go on a bike ride, I am more than happy to accoompany you and also probably even provide you some wheels.

Other than that, you can make me happy with various types of activities. From the cultural ones to especially the stuff I got to check out in New Zealand... Paragliding, Kayaking, rafting, horseriding and what not.

Music, Movies, and Books

Metalcore is my all-time favorite genre. Of course you can also catch me with some less brutal tracks, for instance some mean, smart and funny hip hop.

You could sum up my musical taste with the well-known german term "Menschenverachtende Untergrundmusik".

Oh well, but still nothing can be said against classics from the 90s, Irish Traditionals or everything on NDR1 which is our boomer retro radio.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A four-week-trip to the US, including a two-week-internship where I was treated like family.

Also, hosting a Spanish colleague during the German leg of the exchange.

Teach, Learn, Share

Consider carefully if you have social battery left for a CS trip or if a hostel or hotel might not be better for you.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Washing dishes, tidying up, getting breakfast, all that good stuff that you can do to make your host's life a little easier.

Also, I like to fix bikes a lot, so if you run into any troubles, I might be able to give you a hand. If you tell me beforehand, I might even bring tools and parts.

Also, if you want some mountainbike, shooting, first aid, self defence or driving lessons, I am happy to instruct you.
