About Me

Hi, I am an architecture student, open to new ideas, tolerant and curious. My downside is that I am sometimes lazy but my field of study teaches me not to be. I am from Brno, Czech Rep., but I identify more with the region of Central Europe, or former Austria-Hungary. I currently study in Weimar, Germany.

During my holidays I'm often roaming around some part of our wonderful world and that's usually why you see a message from me)

In Spring 2023 I am on a long study trip along the Silk Road.

I encourage you to ask me for hosting in our village close to Brno on the Napoleonic battlefield of Austerlitz, once trampled with feet from all of Europe. I also often check public trips in Brno, so try to write there and maybe I will respond.

Update: Not regularly using Couchsurfing since 2020. For a bigger probability of replying you can see my updated profile and reach me out elsewhere (Соuсhеrs, Тrusтrооts, Веше1соме, Wаrмshошers).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'd like to meet new people, travel at reasonable expenses (which means travel more and learn more!) and also host someone who wants to discover my country. I also use Trustroots and Warmshowers, if you know those networks.

From my travels I learned a lot of context into which I can set all information that I get and thus understand the world better (and also be able to tell a story).

Interests

Music, travelling (I like bikepacking and hhiking the most), history, timelapse photography, graphic design, learning new things from other people. My special interest are maps, I really like them and a little atlas can entertain me for days. Google Earth is a heaven... But I also love to explore places on my own. I also like things, places or cultures with an interesting story behind them. The best it is when few people know about it.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music I listen: Folk, Punk and Rock'n'roll. Jazz, Klezmer, Irish and Balkan music are great as well. Again often music with more cultural roots.
Bands: Queen, Flogging Molly, Čechomor, Manel, Gogol Bordello, Katzenjammer, Daniel Kahn And The Painted Bird, Firkin, The Electric Prunes, Brathanki, Goran Bregović, The Rumjacks, Pink Floyd, ELO, Отава Ё, Kiosk, O-Hum and so on.
Instruments I play: Guitar and flute. I like playing guitar more and I am better at it but flute is easier to carry around on the journeys.
Movies: I don't watch them often but some I like are Underground (1995), All my compatriots (1969), Лето (2018), Yugoslav movies and Czechoslovak New Wave.
Books: historic literature and novels verified by the time (Dictionary of the Khazars, Kundera, Hašek, Die Blechtrommel, L'Étranger...).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Got back things I lost or were stolen from me, for example my sandal that a fox stole from me while wildcamping in Bulgaria.

Also I collect interesting places to sleep at: inside a brutalist monument, empty railway car and more.

But I believe that there are even greater things to come than those that are gone. And I'm going towards them.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: Czech, maybe some music basics and some history too.
Learn: I quite like languages, I've learned a lot of German and pieces of Russian, Polish, Spanish, Turkish, French, Arabic, Slovenian, Serbo-Croatian, Italian and Indonesian.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can tell you what I know, I can teach you what I can. I can cook Czech soup for you and tell you some of my stories how I found things that I had lost.
