About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Happy-go-lucky .. looking for exciting adventures with friends !!

ABOUT ME

I am an adventure loving shutterbug looking for reasons to travel across the world. Being a little introverted, I take time settling in with new people but after that phase, I love having long pointless chats !!! I have traveled across India a lot, but still even more is left !!

I love driving cars and taking long drives. One small issue for me is that I do not know how to ride a bicycle. But that has taught me to walk long distances without much effort !!

Photography is a big passion for me and has exposed me to a lot of new things in life.

I like having drinks with a comfortable group of friends. I am not much into the go-crazy kind of drinkers but more into the sit-quietly-and-talk kind of an alcohol connoisseur.

Travelling has been a passion for a long time. I haven't traveled out of India enough for my liking! I am working hard to change that! Medieval and pre-medieval architecture has always seems inviting to me. Modern world architecture seems boring !!! I have met foreigners in India and I am very eager to know their culture, their way of living and how different is it from the Indian way of living. In my journeys abroad, I would like to do that more often.

I am myself looking to travel around Delhi and to explore its treasures. I would surely like to share my travel experiences of mine with anyone coming in. As for food habits, I am a eggitarian. I limit myself to veggies, eggs and milk products.

And yea .. though I have worked in a nuclear power plant in India for 5 years, I am NOT radioactive !!!

I love trekking and am always looking for opportunities to escape into the mountains. Trekking has been a big part of my life over the last 3-4 years and I look forward to doing it abroad as well. Over the past couple of years, I have tried to improve my cooking skills. Spanish tortilla has been a recent dish of expertise! I love to try new dishes from the various cultures across the world.

PHILOSOPHY

Enjoy life to the fullest. You never know what is coming next.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I live in South Delhi which is approximately 9 kms from the airport and around 14 kms from the New Delhi Railway Station. The nearest metro station is 1.5 kms from my house. I am looking to host as well as surf. I stay in a fairly big apartment and have a couch in my accommodation available to the CS community members. I have a kitchen as well which the CSer is free to use (and of course feed me) !!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have surfed couches in my recent trip to Europe and each of them has been an enriching experience. By couch surfing, you get to know much more than the city you visit. You get to know the people, the culture of the city from the point of view of a localite and its simply amazing.

I really look forward to hosting now as I believe that I can certainly make the visit of someone to Delhi much more exciting !!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Indian classical music, Sting, A R Rahman and lots more to list!

Movies: Life is Beautiful, The Godfather, Schindler's list, Enemy at the Gates, etc, etc

Books: Godfather is a clear cut favorite. And after that there are too many to list out !!! I have a nice collection going on

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sagrada Familia at Barcelona is an amazing piece of architecture. Stunned by its beauty.

Welcomed 2012 on a wintry night, sans tent or camp... in the company of a canopy of sparkling stars sprayed across the lovely dark sky in the beautiful desert of Thar, Rajasthan, India.

Trek to Roopkund at the end of the season. Did the summit when it was snowing! Trekked the Chadar (Frozen river of Zanskaar)

Trekked the highest trekkable peak in the world, Stok Kangri (6153 m). The most arduous trek I have been to in my life!

Recently going to South America to see Machu Picchu, Nazca lines, Humantay Lake and tour the Salt Flats of Uyuni! South America is where I want to go again!

Teach, Learn, Share

I think I am quite well versed in photography and can really help people out. Being from a business school, I am interested in businesses as such and like to see if I can contribute in any way.

I have had training in Indian Carnatic vocal singing but I do not practice it now. But I do love singing along. I would like to learn atleast one musical instrument, hopefully the violin.
