About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travelling and meeting people.

ABOUT ME

Well, as you can read, I'm Jonathan. A 24 years old Belgian guy. I read a lot, listen to a lot of music. I also love to drink, to chat, to play drums.

I have studied languages (French, Dutch and English) and I am working for an insurance company at the moment.

I love travelling. Since I'm a kid, I've been on the road with my family. With them I've been to Egypt, Tunisia, Bulgary, Spain (like 10times), Luxembourg, Turkey, France, Italy, Greece (More precisely to Corfu) and some other places I don't remember.

On my own or with friends, I've been to England, the Netherlands, France, Turkey, Crete, Czech Republic, Luxembourg, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Hungary, Austria, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia and Germany (that's it, I think).

My wish is to visit all of Europe, and later the most I can in the world. A lot of the best moments in my life I have spent abroad.

I am an open-minded person, I love to know about other cultures, points of view, habits, etc.

I also know my little country quite well. I love it, even though it's a kinda weird one.
I know some Belgian cities very well : Namur, Brussels, Bruges, Liège, Antwerp, Ghent...

PHILOSOPHY

My philosophy would be to enjoy life for what it is.

I am not the kind of person who worries a lot for little things.

I try to enjoy every moment (as far as it can be enjoyable), I love simple things like having a drink with a few friends, biking in the countryside on a sunny day... I ain't no trouble maker.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My only problem is that I live in a village with little transport facilities. It is quite a lovely place, but it's kinda lost. For example : travelling to Brussels from my house takes about an hour and twenty minutes (it's a lot for a Belgian person), and they are no after-21 o'clock buses. Yeah that sucks, but hopefully I own a car and will get my driving license one day (?)

Anyway, everybody's welcome as long as I'm free! It is always a pleasure for me to make people discover Belgium, even if from my place I can't show everything.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Always great so far! I have met some great people and I hope it will keep on going on this way.

Interests

I love music, movies, books...

I love to travel. I want to see with my own eyes all these places instead of staying home.
I also like history a lot, this is why I sort of fell in love with cities like Prague or Bruges.

I would like also the learn new languages, and when my studies will be over, I think it's going to be one of my biggest goal.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite movies would be: Old Boy, A Space Odyssey, Mulholland Drive, A clockwork orange, Blade Runner, Children of Men, Drive and... many others!

The music I love... I love Metal, Classical Music, some jazz artists, post-rock, psychedelic pop or rock...

And the books: I love heroic-fantasy/horror/science-fiction things (my geeky side) like Lord Of The Rings by Tolkien (guess you all know it), the Farseer by Robin Hobb, Dune by Frank Herbert, I Am A Legend By Matheson, all the Lovecraft's novels...

I also love other books, like Of Mice and Men, 1984, Animal Farm, High Fidelity, Into Thin Air, Into The Wild and some French and Russian litterature...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most impressive stuff I've seen:

The ancient temples in Egypt, especially the Valley Of The Kings.

Pammukkale in Turkey.

London, my first very huge city. It was impressive, beautiful.

Paris, because well it's Paris, and it was also with good friends so...

Prague, such a wonderful city full of history. I was also with good friends and I met great people from USA and Quebec.

My 2013 interrail trip. It was pretty awesome. I'll probably do it again soon!

2014 Polish trip were maybe among the best holidays of my life! I loved it :)!

In 2016, I visited the Baltic countries with a friend, surrealistic but fantastic trip as well.

And I saw a lot of pretty epic things in my life, well they are epic to me. But I must say that each trip in my life was a delight, I haven't got a bad one yet and it would take ages for me to tell everything.
