About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Maintaining my equilibrium

ABOUT ME

I spent the first 20 years of my life in Italy. Then studied engineering in UK but returned to Italy where my wife and I were subsistence farmers.

Since then: extensive work with non-profits involved with Peace and Justice. During the 1980's worked as a volunteer in Honduras, Guatemala and Nicaragua.

Worked for the UNDP for four years, two in Rome and then two in Manila. Returned to the US where I became a building inspector.

I'm currently involved with several non-profit humanitarian organizations. I am a perpetual student of foreign policy and international relations.

PHILOSOPHY

Do my share. Be mindful of others and as conscientious and responsible as possible. Live and let live.

I feel capitalism has given most people a bad ride. I would welcome an attempt at a 21st century socialism - whatever that might be . . .

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As a guest I don't like to impose. I don't take things for granted. I believe in participative interaction. I believe in networking. And I'm always thrilled by interconnecting.

My wife, Soledad, is also a member of CouchSurfing. See her profile under Soledad Pagliuca. We travel together and work together on humanitarian, academic, and environmental projects. She is particularly interested in Cuba.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Mostly as a host.

When we host, in addition to a clean room, linens, etc., we usually invite our guests to integrate into whatever activity we are involved with and share some meals with us.

Interests

International current events.
Peace and Social Justice. I am currently serving as National Peace and Justice Secretary for US-Servas.

My wife and I got very involved getting Obama elected because we thought he would bring in a lot of new young blood into the American democratic process. We have been very dissappointed with the Trump administration.

We belong to a Community Garden in St. Augustine and grow organic vegetables with 60 other members. We are concerned about the environment.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Managed to get this far . . . .

Teach, Learn, Share

I speak several languages and have traveled extensively in Europe and Central and South America and also Asia.

I have a long history of involvement in social causes.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a good listener.
